Love this classic song, John Sykes is such an amazing guitar player, very underrated, he went on to form the band Blue Murder where he also sang besides from playing guitar, they sadly only made 2 albums, Blue Murder (self titled album) and Nothin’ but Trouble, amazing band...

Whitesnake's lead singer, David Coverdale, was once the lead singer of Deep Purple, one of my all time favorite hard rock bands. I was 30 years old when this song came out, newly married for a little over a year, and in March of 87 when this song hit the charts, our first daughter was born. We were stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. Air Cav! Arctic Warriors! One of the neat things about Whitesnake is that they are still recording to this day, still putting out albums. Well, hey you asked where we were when we heard this song. lol. Good choice.
I saw this band on October 31, 1987. Great White opened for them. It was a sold out show and totally rocked the roof off. Awesome concert!
My first rock concert. Awesome! Steve Vai killing it on guitar and Coverdale's great voice made it memorable. Lots of pretty girls with at least 1 can of hairspray in their hair. Good times.

bandit77 That must’ve been 1990 or so. Steve Vai was only in the band a year or two and also never had anything to do with a Whitesnake album. Toured for one year I believe.
Omg! It was my first concert too! I was like 8/9 and I loved whitesnake so my mom took me with her, giant and bad English opened for them and we loved bad English too so it was pretty awesome! It was like 30 years ago though so it’s a bit hazy. My older sister and I continued the tradition and took our nephew to see his first rock concert (first concert period) when he was 9.
@@stranger396 Yes it was 90. I believe he was filling in for Adrian Vandenberg when he got hurt. I also think he did work on the Slip Of The Tongue album. Not sure on that though.

This was played so much on the radio and MTV but looking at it now you realize it was a cool song with a great groove. Performed awesome but at the time it was in a great song in a sea of great songs so it was one of many. Much more appreciation for it now considering what is top 40 these days. 80s ....awesome decade.

Saw this live twice, fantastic concerts
Whitesnake’s first assault on MTV sparked their awareness to millions. Saw them in concert twice during this era & after seeing them about 2 years ago with only Coverdale as same member, they still rock out. After pondering I think I’ve caught them 6 times since 1989. Some good 80’s fun mixed with great talent makes WS a relevant player. Yea they’re posers, but they can back it up. And girls love them ...... so throw on this classic anytime you’re with a lovely lady & jump in the back seat!!!

Hands down, this is one of my all time favourites! This is one of them sassy 80s riffs you instantly fall in love with! As a guitarrist... I still play this song just to entertain myself. As I can see, you are a bass player! Man... grab that bass and play along! You will love it! I am 43 now.. and I remember when my brother introduced me to Whitesnake back in the day when I was a Kid. In 1987 I was 9... and I instantly fell in love with it! As I mentioned above... this is one of them sassy riffs you fall in love with :)

This is on e of the songs that I requested U to play cuz I kno U would have like this song, especially in the middle of the song with that Violin Playing. I remember growing up in High school listening to this song when it 1st came out n kept rocking it for months. This is one of those jams that feels like ur in a action movie roll. Coverdale and Jimmy Page teamed up to make an album called Coverdale-Page in the early 90s. It's like a combo of Whitesnake and Zeppelin. Check it out.

The genius of John Sykes on guitar and 2 other band members. All 3 were fired after they recorded the album just weeks before a new band was assembled for the music videos. John Sykes easily a top 10 all time heavy rock guitarist.
I've probably commented but, I performed a few Whitesnake songs from '86 to...I can't remember. So many bands, so little memory left. Well, I am 57. Actually won a "meet and greet" with the band, via a radio station giveaway. He looked like hell, but he could still out sing my ass! Singers like that inspire others!

His range is ridiculous and whenever I used to hear him on the radio (yes I'm old-ish), I instantly knew who it was. He is a really nice guy as well. The reason the music industry changed the music to the crap that's out there now is all about loosh.
Energy produced by human beings that other entities use to feed from is called loosh.
In my day too many were getting good energies from our music. Even MTV stopped playing music videos. That's why "disco sucks" came out to stop the happiness we were exuding into the atmosphere. Sounds stupid, but research it. Anything good, the evil had to get rid of. They needed to feed on loosh.
I grew up on this music too. In 1987 I would have been 9 years old.

I was in High School and it was another great big hair band! I rocked the big hair before it was in. Lol I was the only white girl in my school with naturally kicky hair. Let's just say it had a mind of it's own. Lol
The whole album was excellent! On top of it, Whitesnake puts on an outstanding concert simply because they are all on point. Crying in the Rain I think was their best popular one but in my opinion the best song on the album was Judgment Day.

I love this song and this whole album. David Coverdale’s vocals and the incredible musicianship of the band made a classic album. The beautiful lady at the start of the video was Tawny Kitaen and she was his wife at the time and she featured in a number of his videos.

That's tawny katain. (Not sure on spelling). After their marriage ended she ended up marrying one of our own Cleveland Indians pitcher. That ended up in a nasty fight something about her beating him with the heel of her high heel shoe. Easily he got the children (2).

This is one of those songs I like but when it came out, they played the heck out of it. It was on every station for months and I think that ruined it for me. They played it so much, I probably can go the rest of my life and not have to hear it. That said, I never turn it off when it comes on the radio, just don't go looking for it. It's a shame because it is a great song.

This band was my first concert when I was like 8/9. It was giant, bad English and whitesnake, but whitesnake was the headliner. So good! My favorite at the time was is this love, my favorite now is here I go again, but this one is better for showing David Coverdales vocal range!
Do you mean the movie Witchboard? If so, yes that is Tawny Kitaen who was dating the singer at the time. She is prominently featured writhing around on the hood of a car in the song "Here I go Again" as well as the TV series Hercules, and The New WKRP. You have a very good eye to know her figure just from that opening pic. :)
hahaha i had the bleached and permed hair below my shoulders. sleeveless tees in reds, blues or yellows. leather pants from time to time. I even came to the rescue when a band member at a show i was watching had his good guitar take a shit, and i happened to have mine in the car. he said he was going to try to find one like it because it worked so well.
