The advice here only barely scratches the surface. I moved into a retirement village 4 1/2 years ago and the managers seem to think that they can do what they like with us including breaking our contracts. The Manager stopped the cleaner from coming to my Apartment but kept taking the money for this service …. I asked for a refund they said no. Same with meals … no food no refund. Now they are trying to get rid of all the night staff. This last year has been and continues to be a nightmare. You must find out what you can before moving into a retirement village. I only found out everything after I moved in. Very recently a lady sold her house, moved in then moved out when she found out what it was all about. Somebody told me that Retirement Villages are not regulated therefore they are a law unto themselves.
