I used to live there. When I stayed there. They kept them up. My mother stayed there as well. She would have to fight with them to get things done. I moved out right before they changed ownership of them.

I wasn't satisfied with end of this video. I thought that I would see some resolutions. Can we get a follow up video of legal actions being brought against these slumlords? They need to be held accountable. I would like to see that in a video or article or something. I'm sure there are laws against these types of things in Houston. The Landlord can be sued. If these things happen to multiple tenants, they can start a class action lawsuit. They need to do a simple internet search about tenant rights in Houston.
The courts suppose to make sure the landlords complete the maintenance before the landlord gets the rent from escrow. That is a solution for one thing.

As a PM for over 20 years, it’s not the workers in the offices. IT’s CORPORATE. They say yes or no if a certified vendor can come out and make major repairs. Most maintenance guys can only do what they can if they can get the materials to do it. These corporate offices is who she needs to get at!
This is not an isolated incident I'm here in San Antonio Texas The Hallows the buildings are cracked up mold and the building is you could even see it sinking into the ground The hollows are really old There's some other apartments on Pipers Creek that's really bad The Hilltop Oaks Really really bad and now I'm at the village of Costa Brava They really do this is the one place that I've seen Did their Section 8 income-based They really do try The management of whoever owns the apartments they really do try because they have to maintain a certain standard for the Section 8 residence but and this is a big butt Just because they do their best for the Section 8 residents doesn't mean that the regular pain residents get the same treatment one woman had to move out because there was so much mold in her apartment She couldn't she couldn't live in there with her kids getting sick until they felt like cleaning it And that's the thing there's a lot of abuses And a lot of people don't understand Where we supposed to go We don't have enough money to get a hotel room until the situation is fixed Nobody wants to be accountable housing is not going to put us up somewhere voucher program is only for the rent for that time. They're not going to put us in the hotel if the apartment ends up being unlivable We still have to come up with another deposit and security whatever whatever fees we have to come up with that all on our own So this is not an isolated situation Is very common in places that are Section 8 apartments when the regular people that pay they pay out the wazoo ridiculous rent and they're not getting the the same service as the tenants who are on Section 8
Why are they paying so much rent for those tiny apartments? There are no better places? Those apartments must be old ones that were fixed up a bit because when you see mold because of those pans in the ceiling, it means it's an old building. I have seen mushrooms growing out of a tenant's bathroom walls from the mold I guess. I use to have a job helping tenants. Never had a problem getting to the landlord but we never used threats through the door and would set up a meeting with them and the tenants. We sometimes came with cops for meetings because we had to deal with the New York drug dealers hanging around trying to see if the meeting was about them which most of the time it was. But they are not gonna open the door if you shout at them from behind it ..better have it on flim if that's the way you do it so they can't say you threaten them or hit them or the old stand by...they got to come out sooner or later so sit in your car at closing. We just use the local news and other resources. We even got invited onto the Sally Jessie show when it was still in New Haven. We have lawyers that worked for free from Yale University Law School to collect the rent and keep it util things were fixed also by the landlord. Never seem like a threat by yelling or screaming and stay as professional as possible and out of any false blame because you want to be a sure help to those people. Like the landlords be the jerks they are but don't let them get you angry.
I am in this industry since 2000 and I will say that we are not allowed to speak with the media but we can direct them to our Regional Manager and they are to direct them to the Regional Director... maintenance or lack there of and maybe the lack of property budge seems to be the issue... but nonetheless they must meet and correct the residents issues because at the end of the day when my residents pay their rent they are paying my salary...I won't work for a company who's budget is thin because nothing gets done and it's your face people see onsite and in the supermarket....
