  • Israel video tour with David Hyman, professional tour guide. While visiting Jerusalem's Old City, don't miss this compact compound on Mount Zion. It houses some of Jerusalem's most important and holy sites. King David was the founder of Jerusalem, as described in the Book of Samuel. David chose the location for political reasons, so he can unite the 12 tribes who could all agree to Jerusalem as the capital as it was not part of any tribe's territory. The Biblical reference to David's tomb mentions that he was buried in "The City of David" but the tomb was never found. During the Crusader Period (13th Century AD) the tradition of David's tomb was relocated to its present location, on Mount Zion and it has been here since. David's tomb is an active synagogue with an orthodox community present at all times. It is possible to visit, but please be aware of the dress code protocol and avoid photography on the Sabbath.
The second floor of the building houses possibly the most famous room in the world. The room of the Last Supper, also known as the SEnacle. Once again, we have tradition. history and politics all in one location creating great confusion to all. The scripture does not offer a clear description of the whereabouts of the upper room. In the Byzantine period, a church was built here and one of the chapels was dedicated to the last supper. The Crusaders renovated that room during the 12th century and since then it is considered the location. The room switched hands many times and all the religions have claimes over it. For the past 50 years, the room is managed by Israel's Ministry of Religious Affairs and the entrance is free and open to all. There are many Arabic inscriptions on the walls because, under the Ottoman rule, the room was part of a mosque dedicated to King David, referred to in the Qoran as Nabi Daoud ( Prophet David)
Another monumental building is the Dormition abbey but it is closed because of the COVID and we could not enter. So I could only record it from the exterior.
Thanks, Shiri for joining me as we explore more of Jerusalem, love doing this together with you...

It is me who is grateful for the answer. Now I know. Happily they didn't ask this question at the tour guide exam. 😂. You should give lectures at the course in English in Jerusalem. You come out as a good and peaceful storyteller and a damn knowledgable guide. Many students study your material.

This is not the tomb of King David. The tomb is still available to be seen and the Bible tells us where to find it. It IS INSIDE the City of David near the reconstructed wall. This place shown here is a place they celebrate King David, but not his actual tomb. The actual tomb was found in 1913 by Mr. Weill.

I'm reading the book of John, and found this video online, which brought me here to TH-cam to watch it. I appreciate this video very much. Thanks for sharing.... I love getting the chance to see the actual places the Bible talks about to make my reading and studying to be more interesting. At the end of this video you show where Mother Mary was brought to in her last days. I just wanted to mention that somewhere in my research over these past months, I learned that Mother Mary ascended into Heaven as her beloved son Jesus did. I loved learning that so, I thought I'd share it. Much love and light you and your wife. Thanks again for taking us on tour with y'all.

This hill has a lot to do with the virtue of love ♥️:
King David wrote about his love ♥️for God in the Book of Psalms and in the Cenacle our Lord Jesus, who is Love ♥️Incarnate, instituted the Sacrament of Holy Communion and also the Apostle of the Sacred Heart of Jesus tells us in John 13: 34-35 what Jesus said to His disciples: “34 A new commandment I give unto you: That you love one another, as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another.”
