- We came across this pair of friendly humpbacks after a long day of frustration - one very shy mom and calf, and then a long period of not sighting much of anything till we had just about given up. We decided to go snorkeling in a cave and on the way we came across this pair of humpbacks and decided to jump in with them. To our surprise they did not swim away. We started to swim around them and they swam with each other around us - circling us over and over and over again. The 6 of us just click click clicked away with our cameras as this pair of humpbacks dove and rose, splashed and flipped over, rubbed one another, swam close to check each of us out. By the time we finally got out of the water we realized an hour had passed (None of us ever got tired even though we swam our hardest to stay along side them - the adrenaline of the encounter pushed us all through). After looking at the photos, tony Wu told us that it was a male and female, most likely a courting pair.
