Traveling with a toddler - is Sri Lanka SAFE? (Weligama, Mirissa)

Is Sri Lanka safe? Can we travel there with a toddler? Best lagoons to swim with a toddler? Kid-friendly places to eat and spend time in Mirissa and Weligama? Transfer? Commute? So many things to think about before hitting the road...
We believe that travel is the most informative form of education, a way for us to bond with our child, and an opportunity for him to discover this world. As parents of a 1.5-year-old toddler, we try not to hold ourselves back, we made the decision to create our own stories and memories for us and our child to cherish.
This time we flew with our toddler to Sri Lanka for 3 months (January-April) and now sharing our experience, tips and tricks.
