I think smoking and stress had a huge impact on his voice. His tone is not bad but he has no endurance. After Richie left the band he must’ve had a ton of stress and probably smoked a lot too so he took a huge downfall from what he use to be.
@@landonbeard254 very sad, but anyway, he’s 58 and it’s difficult to ask for insane high notes like he did in his 20s and 30s (aka the golden years). As a teen, I would have loved to see them in their prime..

He doesn't smoke anymore stopped a long time ago stress maybe but he's come out the other side and still making great music 2020 fantastic
He still sounds amazing. I think he gets better with age! He takes better care of his vocals.
