  • In this InDesign video, David Blatner demos how you can migrate your InDesign content to PowerPoint. This can be super handy if you’re more comfortable working in InDesign or that’s just where all of your content currently is. With a little assist from Acrobat, David show how content created in InDesign can be opened-and edited!-as a native PowerPoint document. It’s the best of both worlds, really.
This tutorial was taken from David’s “InDesign for Building Presentations” session at CreativePro Week 2022. To read all about this great event, please visit our CreativePro Week site: creativeprowee....

This was very helpful, exactly answered the question I need for a project I'm working on. Thanks!

This is great, thanks! Over the years, I've come to the conclusion that most of our clients insist on powerpoint files as a collaboration tool. They know how to edit PPT so they make sloppy edits and hand it back to us to fix. I say work in Indesign, export to PPT, let them have at it then make the actual edits in the professional design tool! I have yet to convince my manager of the merits of this approach though :(

Thanks for great video David! Btw, there's a workaround to avoid the shapes/object not being in the Slide master. Simply keep two layers in indesign, one as a background and other one as your used objects. Save it to PDF (interactive) while ticking on create Acrobat layers. This should fix the issue most of time.

This is nifty. I used to copy to Illustrator and then copy to Powerpoint.

This is done with interchangeable format (pdf), but it is easy, and the end result is great.

I converted a few days ago PDF to PPTX online with Adobe. And I was asthonished how precise it came out. There has been only one fault: An outlined font had not the correct outline color. Why did I convert it? My daughter needed it in school as PPTX. I refused to learn PPTX and told her, that we go with InDesign and PDF. As a phsicist I hate these transitions and morphing.

What are the dimensions of the indesign document for a PowerPoint presentation ?…

If you choose Web as your intent when setting up the document, you can input pixel dimensions. A widescreen presentation is often 1920x1080. If you’ve already got a layout made, you may have to make adjustments in PPT to fit the slide size. -EG
