My singer 338 works like a Swiss watch.
The next project is the White brand sewing machine.
So satisfactory to rebuild these vintage machines.
No way I could manage without your full support.
      Thanks again,

@@mehrzadrashidkhani3250 I've never worked on a white brand machine so it'd be interesting to know how that goes have you ever thought about making your own videos? Maybe that white brand machine would be a good choice to start

Greetings Andy Tube! Up until seven weeks ago, I hadn't ever used a sewing machine or sewn. Now I have 21 machines, including 2 Singer 338's. Your videos are invaluable. I was able to get a 338/337 Service Manual but I still have referred extensively to your videos. My first restoration is "Jade" a 338. She was a train wreck I got for $15.00 (US). I also got a much better 338 named Didier for $50.00. I started by removing and maintaining the bobbin hook, case and other components there. Anyway the bobbin is all back together and it seems as if the timing is intact even after re-installing the Pitman. Last night she got a bath following your method of pre-cleaning the difficult parts, then the wash & rinse followed by the oil and lubrication.
The hook is damaged approx. 3/16"" behind the hook point. I will complete the restoration on Jade and see what the results are in testing. Then I will restore it again.
    Thank you for your help.

      21. That's like a whole herd of Singers! When you jump in you don't hold back. I'm glad you are saving all those machines. Thank you for that. Do you think the hook damage was a needle strike? You may be able to smooth it out. If the hook point is good and the rest is smooth it can still work OK. Thanks for commenting and watching myc channel. Carry on, Sir! 👍

Thank you, Loie. It was my favorite camera before I dropped it. I'm saving up for a new one. My old one I'm using now won't focus this close. I really miss it. Thanks for watching.

if one of my videos saves even one machine then it was totally worth it for me. it was kind of you to let me know and thank you very much. I am restoring one of these 337 models for my granddaughter to match her mom's 338 that I restored. besides being beautiful to look at they are both wonderful machines. take care and hope you can stop by again.

@@andytubesewing1953 I got old 337 and it was in very bad shape, driven without oil so it sounded like diesel engine. I believe i can save it but i think i have to follow your restoration steps all the way. I'm glad you share this info, actually your video series was the reason why i bought it in the first place. I will keep you informed how it goes.

Hi, good morning, do you know how I can get the hook for this machine? I have a Singer 337, and I bought it with the hook worn out. Congratulations on the videos!

I'm not aware of anyone selling NEW hooks. We usually have to find a vintage hook on places like eBay or Facebook marketplace like this: www.ebay.com/itm/326052874140?itmmeta=01J67F2HCEGSSARPSWPHKJA1RK&hash=item4bea44079c:g:Sk0AAOSwndZl814A
The hook is Part No. 179582 and is used on these models; 337, 338, 327, 328, 329. You can shop around and see who has the best price for you. Just remember you are buying a used part. Some will claim "like new", etc. but it is always caveat emptor. Good Luck
