  • ✈️ Welcome back to another busy day in Oklahoma aviation! This time we have an action-packed plane spotting session at Tinker Air Force Base, home of the 552nd Air Control Wing and a vital hub for aircraft maintenance. This video features approaches and landings of the locally based US Air Force E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft, alongside an impressive variety of other military traffic.
🚀 Highlights include powerful B-52 Stratofortress and B-1 Lancer bomber aircraft, both landing at Tinker after performing test flights and for their scheduled maintenance at the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center (OC-ALC).
✈️ You'll also spot a US Navy C-130T with newer 8-bladed engines, a couple of KC-135 Stratotanker visitors, and a locally based US Navy E-6B Mercury.

I just read a piece on Tinker AFB having two destructive tornados, only five days apart, back in 1948. So, I searched YT for more info, and a bunch of other dates came up too!! How many tornados have hit that same spot and why!! Just a few that popped up: 1999, 2009, 2013, 2015, 2023.

I've lived in OKC for over 25 years, and the AWACS and tankers are a fairly common sight. We used to have a squadron of C-130's based here, but the BRAC program in the late 2000's put an end to that as they got reassigned elsewhere. I believe Tinker used to have B-52's based there during the Cold War and as such was a priority target for Soviet nuclear attack should WW3 break out.

Try working in a warehouse next to a B1 blast fence, and they do engine runs. It shakes the building and rattles the windows and your teeth and they mostly do it at night while on shift…..oh boy!🇺🇸

Darn I40 traffic getting in da plane spotting way... South wind landings.
I240 South of Tinker is lower, the shots are better N side of lake Draper.
    North wind landing approaches.
    Its a BUSY Logistics center!

B1 is the loudest aircraft I've ever heard by far. Video does not do justice to how obnoxiously loud they are.

KC135 fully loaded taking off at former Carswell AFB mid summer afternoon 100+ degrees and they pour the water to those engines will make you give up drinking, at least till happy hour that afternoon.

I remember one time they had one at an airshow and even with earplugs in I still had to cover my ears it was so loud. Not surprising since the thing uses 4 of the same engines that power the F-15 Eagle, complete with afterburners.
