I now deal with the case and remove it from the chassis. Also an overview of the telescopic antenna which is pretty unique
    I created this video with the TH-cam Video Editor ( / editor ) / radiocruncher / radiocruncher . Have a look at my new website radiocruncher.com www.paypal.com...

My example of this radio has the seal in the bottom left screw aperture. I recall it was mentioned in the handbook; it was inserted when the radio was manufactured, to indicate that the product was complete and operational. Buyers were advised when buying a radio second hand that the seal was still intact;this meant that no unauthorised service/repairs had occurred. The radio was manufactured in the Latvian SSR in the VEF factory. CORRECTION - I have been informed that these radios wee made in the Belarussian SSR, not in the Latvian SSR.

Thanks William. It’s a good idea. I assume authorised service centres had a stamp to show it had been serviced by them

In that radio it looks like diode V2 is the wrong way round as all diodes should be pointing nose to tail if you don't know what I mean compare what you find in the service manual to that of the circuit diagram of the SBL1 ring mixer and you will know what I mean just ignore the cores in the SBL1

Hi David. I learn new things every radio that I work on. I have had a look at the SBL circuit so will have to dig the radio back out for another look. Thanks for the comments. Graham

I'm sure you will have no trouble sorting yours. Is it on its way?

Not quite. Just made an offer to an ebay seller 20 mins ago and they accepted.
End of week no doubt. There is also a Hacker RP38 on its way!

Sounds like you are going to be busy. The RP38 is a great sounding radio as well. Is it the original RP38 or 38a?

I have picked up a B217 and all it is missing is a treble/bass knob and one of the bulbs (2.5v 0.06A) has blown. Would love to get these spares if someone could help? The bulb doesn’t seem to exist anymore with this combination of v and a?

Nice attention to detail, any idea where this type (or similar) 4mm shaft knobs could be sourced?

I did have a search around on the Internet to try and find some. Because the shaft is set back in the chassis they need to be long reach. My only source is scrap sets. I might be able to find a spare for your set but the top won't match

+Radiocruncher Yeah I was having the same issue myself, being a 4mm D shaft doesn't help any either.
My plan "B" is to located/fabricate some shaft extensions and fit 3 new machined aluminium knobs (which look quite nice), unfortunately using extensions will place added torsion/stress to the potentiometer assembly.

Sounds like a plan. They should work fine. I do like the pattern on yours though
