    Love Union bindings. Their customer service (in Europe at least) is also great. They've replaced broken straps and beat up heal cups for me no questions asked!

    What would you recommend question… I’m torn between the new Force and the Atlas and even considering the Atlas pro. I ride icy Midwest conditions and take a couple out west trips a year. I plan on moving back out west so I want something that can handle more terrain. Advanced rider wanting to charge hard all over the resort. Fast Side hits and calculated turns. Riding switch and beboping butters. Not a lot of lazy riding but I play in the park and love jumps. I have been on Force bindings for a decade and love them but always felt like my set up lacked something. I was on a DC media blitz(full camber and stiff) and now am on a Capita Super DOA( multiple camber and a bit more flex). With this new board in mind what are your thoughts/ recommendations? You guys are a wealth of knowledge. Thank you for you content and passion for the sport

      Many thanks. So this is just enough info to get me in trouble recommending something as I don't know much about you. I would say give the regular Atlas a try if you want something more than the force but you might miss the shock absorption. I'd pass on the Atlas Pro with the Super DOA. I would say both the Force and Atlas will easily turn the Super DOA but hit me up here if you want to get into more detail. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

    Hi guys, loved your reviews for Union Binding Line-up Which would you recommend for a All-mountain snowboard like Capita BSOD. Based on your reviews, Atlas has more dampening absorption (high speed, icy conditions) vs New Force shock absortion (jump and hard landings)? In my case Im oriented to better turning initiation, response and dampening riding. Thanks!

      Thanks! I had those issues about 8-10 years ago. They were all fixed with a new washer/screw design and they even sell the part so you can update older bindings. Davey has 200+ days on one of his Force bindings. I put even more days on my Atlas and never had a single issue.

    Hey, digging the content. Any thoughts on what bindings to go for with a powder board? I just got the Capita Spring Break Powder Racer, but I feel lost when I try to look for bindings. My daily is the Jones Aviator 2.0 with Jones Mercury bindings. For the Powder Racer, I keep hearing different opinions regarding the stiffness and flex recommended for the new pow-board. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's a great board to compliment your Aviator for pow. If you like the Feel of the Mercury/Aviator 2.0 you want something damp because the Pow Racer is a little more light/poppy than your Aviator 2.0 so I'd look at the Mercury again or the NOW Drive Pro (review coming but similar) as it has a little more mellow high back. The Nitro Phantom or Phantom + could work too.

    Adjustability question. I’ve been happy with the Ultras for the last couple seasons but I have never used the Force. On the Ultra, the mounting point for the high back, heel cup adjustment and ankle strap is all the same bolt. On the Force, the heel cup adjustment is the set of bolts in between the high back/ ankle strap bolt and the toe strap. Is it possible to mount the ankle strap onto the middle set of heel cup ‘arm’ bolts? That would allow for more lateral boot movement - more tweaky. Thanks

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm a little confused here. The Heel Cup adjustment on the Force is just for adjusting for boot size just like the Ultra. Do you mean mounting the ankle strap middle binding on the reinforcement bolts? Or do you mean slide the heel cup in more on one side and out more on the other to get a little different angle? So no on 1 and yes on 2 but it's only going to feel a little different. If you mean something else can you send me a loom giving me a better visual or hit me up here with images. thegoodride.com/other-inquiries/

    • @Scruffy_Shredder
      @Scruffy_Shredder หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thegoodridesnow sorry for the confusion. I may be wrong about the function of the bolt. I am wondering if it is possible to mount the ankle strap on the set of bolts that are closer to where the middle of the boot would be, or in other words the set of bolts that are closer to the word “force” stenciled on the side of the binding. If it is possible, is that also true for any Union binding with the two sets of bolts such as the Trilogy and Atlas.

    Thanks for the great info. I have a size 14 boot and the Atlas doesn’t go that big. Am I sacrificing a lot of all-mountain free ride performance by going with the classic Force which does have an XL? The binding will be on a Proto FR DF. I’m a big dude-6’4” 225lbs.

      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No problem. I think the Force Classic XL is a great fit with the Proto Fr DF and you will have a great time with that combo. The Proto FR is a pretty damp ride so not having a little extra dampness with Force Classic vs. Atlas will not be too much of an issue and you gain some shock absorption.

      Thanks! You might really like the new Force then since they kind of go back to a modern/evolved version of what you have. Or even buying the newer ankle straps, screws/washers, toe straps and even a high back on your old Forces would be a nice upgrade. C3 and Evo sell parts and it's a very easy way to upgrade what you have now. Or get a new pair of Forces and upgrade your old ones to have 2 relevant pairs.

      I'd give it to the Falcor because it does a little better at vibration absorption and it's just about the same for shock absorption. I'd go Force though if you have set back inserts/aka a board that works better with full size discs.

    Which would be closest to Burton re flex malavitas? I really like my malavitas but wish they had the ability to adjust side to side.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah me too. I would say the new Force is the closest of the All Mountain bindings from Union but I would say the Ultra or Strata is closest to how the Malavita rides even though they have a very different design. All Union bindings are super adjustable so you get stance width adjustability with any binding.

    • @jessehill3780
      @jessehill3780 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. I hear people say the malavitas are freestyle but then others say they’re a do everything binding. I came off some original cartels (pre X option) that were the wrong size and on a very stiff board so I opted for something more in the mid flex to match my replacement GNU RC and GNU Hyper boards both a mid and mid/stiff board all mtn. Is force a better match up than malavitas?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว

      It really depends on the type of rider you are and the board you have. With those easy turning boards (rode em both) you might really like the Strata or Ultra. The New Force could work too if you want to stiffen up the ride under your feet with a little bit extra response.

    • @jessehill3780
      @jessehill3780 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thegoodridesnow cool. I’ll put more time on my malavitas as I loved them last year but question if I’m in the exact position I want to be. Feels a touch wide when strapping in but then good when I get going and have more stability in chunky snow but then if I set it one position narrower it’s more natural just strapping in but then lower back gets a bit more sore riding (like I’m compensating being cramped) and get kicked around easier. So I’m either good in the wider position or right in between would be perfect but I can’t get there with Burton, which would suck because I love how I can ride the malavitas all day and my knees and feet don’t get beat up at all.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว

  • @TRIKushbeachside
    @TRIKushbeachside ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m using EST Malavitas and they’re really comfortable but I’m not sure if it’s the EST flex or the binding itself but it’s on the border or being as flexy as I like, particularly when it comes to toe/heel response. I have a pair of Atlas pros that I’m going to try out this season but I’m looking for a “softer” pair of Unions to use on my indoor for more Jib/Park/pressing etc.. I want to get a mini disk but can’t decide between the Ultras or Falcors. I only have the EST Malavitas to really reference from but that’s as soft as I’d like to go. Curious which Union binding would be at least as stiff as the vitas but not overlap to much into the Atlas Pro

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the Malavitas are interesting. They have a very mellow response but with a stiffer high back. The toe side also seems slower than the heel side even when my boot is perfectly centered on board. So if you like a stiff high back go Falcor. You will get a lot more response, a stiffer high back and more symmetrical response. If you want similar response but more symmetrical with a softer high back go Ultra. That would be the closest to the Malavitas and have the least overlap with the Atlas Pros.

    • @TRIKushbeachside
      @TRIKushbeachside ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thegoodridesnow thank you for getting back, when you say symmetrical are you referring to toe/heel and tip/tail? Since I’m going to be using these as a more park/groomer binding I thought the Vitas were pretty good tip/tail they just lacked that toe/heel response. It sounds like both the Ultras and Falcors are both more consistent toe/heel and tip/tail? I’m leaning Ultras just because I already have the Atlas pros, I’m just worried the Ultras are going to be softer than my Vitas. Like you said the vitas to me were just dull in the toe/heel area. If the ultras have at least that amount of response if not more that should be fine. I just don’t want to go softer that the ESTs I’m using now. Thank you for reading all this and getting back. I’m just poor and don’t get to board as much as I’d like. I try to get the most out of the few days I get on the mountain 👌🏾

      @@thegoodridesnow totally different question but I’m trying to decide on what size BSOD to grab. I’m going to get a 56 indoor / have a 58 Custom Camber and want the BSOD for really pushing it on groomers and the occasional pow days. I’m 6ft 155-160 with L Atlas Pros and size 11 Photons. My 58 custom is not at all to stiff or anything like that just for reference. I want to try out a wider board and I’m between the 161W or the 62. I know that I’m on the light side for these sizes but I live in FL and grew up surfing - competeting etc.. so I’m used to riding boards that are 6ft on and on. My 58 custom doesn’t feel long at all to me. The last couple seasons I’ve used those tracking apps and I was going 55-60 on groomers just to give a little context to riding style. The Custom felt okay but with the vitas it was just a little dull surprisingly, when I was really carving I was getting some heel drag here and there and the power/response wasn’t quite what I was hoping it would be. I was thinking the 61W to eliminate all toe/heel drag as well as a little extra width to help with pow float but I havent ridden a board much over 26cm waist before. I want the board to still have good toe/heel response, would the 61W at 26.7 be to slow toe/heel? I kind of want to try a wider board and the 62 has a 26.2 waist. Both are wide enough I just don’t know what the difference between the 2 would really be?Just curious which would be a better choice? I’m looking for the bomber board that will give me some float for the occasional pow day but more so for going fast and laying carves. Sorry for the really nitty gritty questions, I just geek out on the little specs. I’m the same way with my surfboards, I can feel a 1/32 of thickness in my surfboards for example lol thanks for getting back on all of this. You guys have the best reviews by far. Cheers from FL

      Knowing so little about you it's hard to say with any certainty. Response is pretty similar with all three. So is adjustability. Atlas doesn't feel cush/shock absorbent but does feel very damp and a touch more responsive. Force or Force Classic aren't as damp/chatter resistant but have softer foam/rubber so they have an easier ride for those that like to get air or just want more shock absorption. @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both will work very well with your Flagship. I think if you get a lot of air and want a more cush landing go Force. If you want a more damp ride at speed and like to carve hard go Atlas.

    How does the new force compare to the atlas 21? I have the atlas 21 kazu with the strata ankle straps, are the force still softer?

    • @thegoodridesnow

      If you have the new 2021 with rubber in the heal instead of foam it's a big difference. Much more shock absorbent. A little less response but close enough for me not to need more. High back is a little stiffer with the Force too. I recently switched over to the new Force just because I need more shock absorption and I'm not missing the Atlas.

    Hi how would the Nitro Team and Team Pro bindings fit in to this lineup?

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say that is a great binding first off. Secondly I would say it's in between the new Force and the Strata.

    So I ride women's boards, which tend to be on the skinnier side, so I have to be really cautious about overhang. Do any of these have smaller footprints at the same size? Or are they all about the same.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All are the same size and stay with the All Mountain/Full Size Discs Union bindings. They have a smaller footprint on the board vs. the Freestyle models that don't have an adjustable gas pedal/a bigger footprint on the board.

    For friendly debate here, but I find it hard to believe the force has better absorption? Rubber absorbs shock better than foam -> perhaps it is the more free flexing board underfoot due to the foam of the force that makes it feel as though it has better shock absorption. Like for Like material absorption properties, the rubber should be superior. p.s. Love the channel :)

    • @Druezy
      @Druezy ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The argument isn't about the materials, it is about the binding as a whole. The rubber on the Atlas is too dense to act as a cushion, which is why he says it is more damp than shock absorbent. It absorbs vibration/chatter rather than impacts. I have the Atlas and agree.

      Thanks @Druezy. Well said and that is exactly what we meant. I'm glad it feels the same for you as it does for us.

    Hey! How are you doing? Here the guy from Argentina and the GNU RC C2 haha :)
    Still haven't decided yet about going for the Ultra's or New 2024 Force's, what do you think about now that you have tried both? All-mt freestyle with focus on Jumps and carving, what do you think it will be a better match to the GNU?
    Thanks for your time again! Hope you doing well.

    • @thegoodridesnow
      @thegoodridesnow  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good. I would say the Ultra's are a better fit with the RC C2. Especially if you want to make it even easier to butter. The new Force could work too. Especially if you want to stiffen up the ride a touch and get more response. So go with what appeals to you more as there is no wrong answer.

    Which Union binding for 2024 Salomon Assassin Pro?

    • @thegoodridesnow

      Something damp. That Assasin Pro is a cranky chattery board in anything but good conditions. Go Atlas, Falcor, Strata or Ultra.

    I love how they feel and ride, but there are a couple of dissapointments for me. The baseplate on the large classic is borderline too small for my 156 wide board. Also the heelstrap on my front foot has loosened many times when i have had hard landings. And last, but not least, the heelstrap broke in two just be me trying to counterrotate a bs 3. So a good binding, but far from perfect

      You need XL and not L. I think they only make XL in the reg force but only go XL with 14s.
