    Thank you for taking the time to put this video together. I had built my own Spulen kit out of Home Depot hoses and what not. Nice to be able to see what a professional kit looks like

      @@RTHMedia how did you get the brake boost hose top piece out and back in? I saw that you mentioned it and you put it back in. But is there a way to do it properly? I’ve heard it can break easily and you need to be careful. I’m going to be deleting mine sometime soon. So anything would help!

    Good tutorial, i have small hands and a small 1/4” ratchet was able to get the pump off without taking the shifter apart, just put her into reverse and you get all the space you need! Hope this helps anyone else! Also, the V2 plate is much nicer than just the flat one you got in this video.

    I have a 2011 Golf. Owned it from 100 or so miles from the dealer and now has almost 150k. Twice the vacuum pump leaked, first time I had the dealer replace (pretty expensive since they add the estimate with removing the transmission, which is apparently how it is shown on the service manual). 2nd time, I did a reseal kit. It has started leaking again, I figured that I should've just done a delete to begin with.

    at the 2:19 mark on the video there are 2 hoses dead centre at the bottom below the throttlebody. The one on the left I know connects to the plastic intake but where does the smaller one on the right connect? Can't figure it out to save my like. Thanks

    Lessons learned: 1. Use the new supplied mounting screws (the old ones are too long). 2. Remove the hose bracket (held by 10mm screw on left hole). I ended up getting the IE block plate. Works well.

    the only issue with type of setup coming off the PCV valve is you will be sucking oil vapour in to the brake booster, not recommended.

      Theoretically isnt the intake manifold pulling vacuum from the pcv and the brake booster? The only direction the potential residue will be traveling is down towards the intake, correct me if I'm wrong but I am also concerned for the same reason

Put a new kendood radio with rgb displays for her and kicker 6.5s. Sounds awesome. New led lights all around and some rgb mood lights on way. So update. I installed my kit about a month and a half ago. At first all was good. Then about 3 weeks ago I spotted a leak in my garage, directly underneath the blockoff plate area. It began to leak more and more and last week I decided to go for the Integrated Engineering plate. I just switched them out today and found that sure enough, the gasket from the original kit was basically as good as Swiss cheese. I'll update on if this fixes the leak.

      My IE plate leaked within 2 years but my window decal is still beautiful! I removed and added rtv gasket maker. My original install date was 04/2014 and it is still going strong. I think from taking air from the intake to the pcv and splitting off on a smaller diameter to the brake booster is creates a Venturi valve which is what creates vacuum.

    • @RTHMedia
      @RTHMedia  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      future62 I was just following the instructions that It came with, but when you take the plate off you can't pull the internals completely out, only slighlty. I think it just makes separating it from the engine easier.

    • @peewee6125
      @peewee6125 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You only need to take the plate off if it's an auto trans. You take the black plastic piece and align the groove of the metal piece to the bolt that's sticking out infront of the pump, or you won't be able to take it out.

      Sorry, TH-cam does'nt notify me of every new comment. The leak was coming from the bottom of the vacuum pump, where it meets the engine. I assume that it was the seal that went bad and caused the leak. it would leak onto the top of the transmission and then flow off of that onto the ground.
