I was just stunned at how much Polish there was... and all I could do was think of you. Poland has some awesome-looking modern era stuff, but it was great to see models from other eras, too. Still... wow, a LOT there... glad it is not me trying to do Poland this year. lol

Hello Anthony! Wow great line up from Piko really like the 101 europa and the blue twin pack of hoppers wow.
The Deutsche Reichsbahn set amazing shame about the price lol.
See you on you live later all the best!

Some beautiful stuff there, Dino, but outside the BR111, nothing that I feel is a "must have." I have been wanting a modern livery 111, but would rather get a Roco or Märklin.

Definitely a lot of great stuff for the European enthusiasts, but nothing that has me opening the wallet this year.

There were a few "if only's" in the catalogue Anthony, if I was running the same as you. Very interesting to see though. All the best.

Hi, Tim... there was nothing that really was a "must get" for me, but some interesting models. I will see what Roco and Märklin have to offer.

Thank you for doing this, makes things easier to understand. The 103 is the one I would like to get to go with the passenger coaches I just got, which would of been used on the German leg. Roco has it too don't know which way to go now. The 181-2 is another interesting one I like. The BR 442 has neat colours on it. Going to be good with the TEE cars, I could make up some sets of those that use to come down my uncles way during summer.
Very interesting models they got, and a great range too.
    Thanks for this Anthony.

Piko usually puts out the most product and variations each year, and this was a bit subdued compared to years past. I saw a lot of great looking models, but none that were must buys. They are making a 111 which interests me, but I would rather find a different version of it. If I had to choose a model between Piko and Roco, I would go with Roco, but other factors come in. A Piko high end vs. a Roco mid-grade model, for example is a tough call. Obviously, price comes into play. I just avoid PIKO "Hobby" level models personally, especially in AC.

The classic line is mostly holdovers from the DDR era Piko expert line and a few offerings from the post DDR reopening the only modern era stuff in that range Are the treibzugwagen trams.

I assumed as much. I do find it funny that, as a one-time "East German" company they elected to go to their "roots" and release a lot of former Warsaw Pact country stock. Not completely, but quite noticeably. lol

Are you trying to get me in very big trouble with my wife? Being of Polish descent I would love to have some of the Polish equipment. LOL But it does not fit in with my layout in any fashion. Would be really hard to explain how it got onto a Monon based layout. 😁😁 Thanks for sharing.

Jouef and Rivarossi made great stock from what I am told. Since Hornby purchased them both, I do not know if there has been a qualitative drop-off, so it should be interesting to see, I agree.

Hello again Anthony, I have now recieved my Brawa Twindexx AC version the same as your model. When i initially put it on the track i managed to get it moving briefly. But later when i tried to get it going again I cant get it to read the decoder. I tried a few different things but i am not very tech competent. As you also are using a CS3, i was going to ask what was the procedure you used. The instruction booklet stated using address 03. But that address was used for another loco. I tried getting it to read address 3. Also I put in the locomotive card that came with it. Most of my other locos are Marklin which of course register automatically. When I first tried it I selected address 8.

    • @ModelTrainOutsider
      @ModelTrainOutsider  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hello, David... it sounds like you may changed the address on the Twindexx and not on the card. Have you tried a factory Reset of the Brawa in the CS3? When you hit "edit locos" and choose the Brawa Twindexx, you should see a prompt on the 1st tab which says "factory reset." That will reset the address to "3" (not 03) on the decoder. One thing you can do is put the unit on your programming track (or alone on the main track) and go into "edit" and there is a "read loco" prompt. Click it and it will keep going until it finds the loco (usually). It should be DCC 3 until you change the address. If you had it working and then it stopped and can't find it, it is likely the address got "lost." It is working, but not at the address you think. This is easier to explain visually than in print, but when all else seems hopeless, just do a reset. Now, at the risk of overstating the obvious, remember, you only put the card from BRAWA in once to load it, then never again. I know some guys who change the address and then keep installing the card in the slot- which makes the CS3 reinstall the original protocols.

Hello Anthony, thank you for the reply. Yes I have had some success since I received your reply. I just deleted the loco as I had it set as. Then I loaded on the card as you mentioned. That seemed to get the train going. I only have a test track set up at this time as I re organize a circuit track. Am getting a bit of power loss on the test track so will need to test it a few more times again.

3:03 Altbau 03 (PKP and DRG) and one with Altbau boiler but small smoke deflectors
4:02 That are actually two separate models, the DB one is a pre-production example that usually has different equipment
4:50 Horrible photoshop job on a blue class 1000. The formal start of Era 3 in Germany is the formation of the DB. Anything between 1945 and that Era 2d (which is something everyone likes to avoid as it is way too confusing). This one will have to compete with the Roco classic
9:16 Formal start of Era 4 is the computer numbering, where the 'E' is replaced by a 1 (or a 2 if it's DR)
10:24 The advertising boards that can be mounted on these (making it a smooth sided loco) are not allowed in Switzerland, that is why most private operators drive these with the ribs visible.
10:50 The E41 is designed as a passenger loco and has always Wendezug controls fitted (which is not always the case with a E40)
    12:10 Traxx old cabin
12:31 Both the 187 and the RegionJet are a Traxx3, with more cabin reinforcements
15:11 While having the same designation (which is linked to the main mechanical components) the streamlined ones are designed for faster running. They probably did a new number which for Italian locomotives involves a totally different set of manufacturere plates (layout, colors, size, location or a combination of that.
18:54 The 242 is a rebuilt Laminatka, as the GFRP cabin did not always provide enough protection agains electormagnetic fields. So they changed it to a metal one...
21:33 Which is an ER20 painted to look like a Ludmilla...
23:40 Which is kind of the East German V200, being also a diesel-hydraulic with two motors. The 6 axle ones were meant for routes that did not allow the axle load of the 4 axle version
23:53 These were bought from Romania to fit between the V180 (aka 218-Ost) and the V300 (Ludmilla) in power, and ended up to be unreliable.
25:05 Well why sped time painting anything extra besides the vehicle number... the Solvay one is private owner and is a lower powered one with a shorter nose
31:44 If you want to ride these be quick, they are probably going out of service
33:32 These are still classic Silberlinge, with rebuilt doors that is
43:32 Finally they did it, a G7 in KPEV green
43:59 That is because practically no AC model trains exist for Spain (except maybe a repainted ICE)
45:01 Well if you do a G7 then you practically need one of these too
48:12 Those are absolutely enormous in length (120 cm for just one set) and require conversion cars for prototypically correct running (with the gangway on the 2nd level) like the luggage car on the same page

@@ModelTrainOutsider thats very nice. I found it very cool to see someone so interested in the trains across the world. But yeah the metropolitan or later ICE MET last drove in 2021 but there are still many interesting trains to explore like the ICE TD being restored in the DB museum in Koblenz.
