Tom Power is right up there with some of the most skillful interviewers I've ever seen. It's almost unreal how good he is at getting people into a flow. It's not showbizzy, he doesn't polish egos, if he's not getting what it is they're saying he presses them on it. It's just marvelous to watch. Really great work.
This movie surprised the hell out of me! Reminds me so much of Daniel Day-Lewis and Paul Thomas Anderson’s work on Phantom Thread and even more so, There Will Be Blood. I life so monumentally but catastrophically told.
He talks like a filmmaker from a different time. A time when thirty-seven year old men didn't need two weeks of bedrest because their favorite superhero's costume isn't the right shade of green.
Ambient tyranny is a fantastic description for the mood of this movie too. Always happy to see some nuanced leftist cinema, I can tell this one will be simmering in my brain for quite a while. I really need to check out his other stuff
I’m hoping that The Brutalist actually gets people interested in adult entertainment again. It appears that every screening around me is always packed, and it seems like most attendees don’t expect a superhero to eventually show up. Hopefully other movies without Batman or the Justice League get financed and gain traction with audiences.
The film really deserves an extended release in Canada. By the time I learned about the praise for this movie and its 70mm VisaVision format I can't find a screening in my area around lower Van Island. Streaming it from home really wouldn't do it justice.
Along with Damien Chazzelle & Whiplash, Corbett is the rare modern filmmaker who didnt believe people would see or like his film Even The Daniels who made EEAAO & were shocked at it becoming an Worldwide hit were expecting "Medicore to Good Reviews" Same with Sean Baker & Anora Maybe the extreme over confidence of artists has led to the decline of quality of cinema In the 70s, 80s & even 90s Spielberg, Scorcese, Verhoven, Forman were expecting to get ridiculed for thier works & ended up becoming cinematic rockstars for that reason Scorcese famously said if you dont get pyshically ill seeing your first rough cut somethings wrong
How did you get interested in acting? Really, that's your lead question? That's the equivalent of bad plot exposition in a movie. Real Clunky! Doesn't anybody know how to do interesting interviews anymore?
Define pretentious. I am not a native english speaker; I can tell you that americans use that word a lot more than most nations. It seems hateful and snarky to me to call harmless passionate people things like these. I don't know maybe have a little love in your heart or something!
He made another one a decade ago, Childhood of a leader. Was a good actor working with great directors. Brutalist was made with 10 ml $ budget independently from studios, it’s extremely hard to pull off so he earned a right to talk however he wants.
Wow best guests in a row. Show is criminally underrated, on TH-cam at least.
This movie also made me realize that most 2.5 hr and up movies would absolutely benefit from an intermission
Yeah we gotta bring those back, I hope this movie’s praise makes them more common for longer films

It's great to see Adrien, Felicity, Guy and Stacy reserve a lot more recognition!
wow. what an intense dude. very serious. reminds me of oliver stone.

@@samfilmkid his manner is so stolid. i'm stil lmao. must be fun at parties
Tom Power is such a good interviewer.
Great guy and great director.
Another great video. Thanks for making me cry again!
It resonates. He respects his audience. Real American yarn.

I immediately thought of Draughtsman’s Contract! But of course Belly of an Architect!
He was amazing in Mysterious Skin. I didn't know he was the same guy who directed Vox Lux, and now The Brutalist.
Really looking forward to seeing this........
Great movie and interesting director. Just watched Vox Lux for the first time as well interesting film

interesting observation
10 million? What are other director's excuses??
Ronnie Corbet, vi estas absoluta malhonoro. Kunigu vin, viro!
1.5 speed. It helps
not if you actually contemplate what people say

Loved the film, but Corbet is way too pretentious for a guy with just one great film.

Vox Lux was great
Sometimes pretentiousness leads to greatness
Look at jim morrison
Too bad he was wrong.
too bad no one cares about your opinion
