On this week's edition of the Palace of Pistons Podcast, Aaron Johnson and Jasper Apollonia are back to discuss all the latest surrounding the Detroit Pistons. First, the guys talk about the Pistons trading up in the 2024 NBA Draft. Does it make sense for them to move up for a specific player, or trade down to target a player later in the first round? Then, the guys talk about a number of free agents the Pistons are expected to pursue in free agency later this summer, including Malik Monk, Nicolas Claxton, and Gary Harris.

if you get claxton for 25M, play him together with Duren for a year or two, then ultimately decide on Duren, don't you think Claxton will be a good trade asset by then? If so, there's no harm in signing him. Same goes for Monk / Ivey. Both Claxton and Monk can start immediately while we try to develop Ivey / Duren. I just think Duren / Ivey value cannot get any worse than now. They played under a terrible coach last year. We do not need another Middleton situation here.

Neither Klay Thompson or Tobias Harris is getting anywhere close to $40M per. Stop. Which team right now would do that? Those players are only valuable to contenders.

Top 4 fit are sarr, risacher, Reed Shepard, clinghan. Chances are one of these nba ready guys will be available, right?

Lavine is a negative asset. His trade value is at an all time low. Why would Detroit take on his contract understanding the risk that comes with that but then increase that risk by swapping picks. I agree with the first assessment. The Bulls will need to trade a 1st and some to get off of Lavine's not swap one a 1st round pick. Remember is at the start of this deal this year also. 4 years and about $200M. If Zach doesn't return healthy. How tradable will that contract be after an unsuccessful attempt by Pistons and the Bulls. Detroit's cap situation would be horrid if that potential move doesn't work out. Detroit would be taking all the risk.

LaVine sucks, the Bulls would have to give me THREE firsts to dump that horrible contract.

Monty isn't getting fired this summer. That's why the Lakers have moved on.
As soon as the stories came out that the PoBO has the authority to fire Monty, i new he wasn't being fired.
If Trajan was going to fire Monty we don't need to announce he can.

@@PalacePistons technically we don't need a HC until after the draft. This could drag out a few more weeks.
Anything is possible but if I was a gambler I would bet he's coach on New Year's Eve. Beyond that things get even murkier.

If I were hawks I'd keep Murray and trade young. Too much of a defensive liability. If we traded ivy for Murray they'd have 2 guys in the backcourt that's bad defenders. We can kinds mask trees defensive with cade and ausar good defense. Especially if we get Claxton too. Trade ivy and tge pick for Aaron Gordon, Naz reid.
