    I'm glad Elizabeth mentioned the road and wind noise which so often gets left out of reviews. In comparison, look at Honda reviews and you'll see plenty of comments like "comes with the standard annoying Honda wind noise."

    I bought one today. Drove the Yaris, Versa, Mazda2, VW Golf. Sat in the Fiat 500, Kia Forte, Kia Rio. The Golf and Accent were the closest. The Accent is uuuuugly, but at $5,000 less for the Accent GS, and because the Accent is really an update to my 2002 Kia Rio Cinco, and because of the 100,000/10yr warranty, I have the Accent. Wish me luck.

    Elizabeth is a great reviewer! Some reviewers yell or are hard to understand, but her voice is very clear, yet soft-spoken which I like. I don't feel like she's trying to sell me a car as much as she's just sharing the pros and cons. - Informative and to the point. Perfect! Hope to see more reviews from her!

    Nearly flawless review Elizabeth, really great job, and I am absolutely blown away by what you can get for $15K today--this is a great little car! My only nitpick is that although your interior volume is correct at 111 cu in, I have typically only heard about cargo volume in a review. Not saying it is bad, but just maybe adding the cargo volume would be helpful for comparison. Congrats on a great review, and hope to see more from you (maybe the new Lambo Aventador or the 2012 C63 AMG?!).

    elizabeth seems like such a delightful person. its amazing how far subcompact cars have come in features and performance recently. just 10-15 years ago this would have been unheard of even in the 20k midsize range

    Just because it lacks those two?
    Actually, they give you a kit that fixes holes in the tire.
    You can buy an option to include the spare tire and kit. They removed it mostly for gas mileage.

    @avlisk i use to live in a area where i dont use AC, it stayed mid 80s all year round with rain once a month but its good to have once you move a different location like i have. so yea its good to have just because and the radio, its good for long trips or just to avoid a conversation in a car with people who just dont want to talk.

    Compare to something like the Ford Fiesta with a base model that does have A/C but costs more. Same with the Mazda 2 (which also comes with power windows standard). In some areas of the country, A/C may only be "needed" a few weeks a year, or not even at all. Bottom line: it's nice to have choices.

    I have the 12 Accent Se. terrible mpg vs sticker, only 25 to 26 overall. However, it fun to drive and very comfortable. Reliable so far at 13k.

  • @Pikapichu24

    It's hard to say as Hyundai has only recently started the push to change their image. It certainly offers a lot of standard features though. Things like a direct-injected engine, 6 speeds (regardless transmssion), disc brakes on all tires often aren't available on the small cars offered by Honda, Toyota and Nissan.

    I liked the review. She could have talked about actual fuel economy she got while driving it, did she get the epa numbers? Also, talk about the stereo and features a little bit more. I have laughed at the voice comments. I did find myself smiling throughout the car review, for no other reason than she sounds so happy in the video...even when she's listing out the negatives on the car.

  • @ReligiousShooter

    The reviewers should mention what their actual mileage was for the week. The EPA estimates are a hit or miss.

    It's odd that the trim levels are reversed here in Canada, I have 2013 Accent GLS 5 door, and its got every option included, and the lower two trim levels are the L and GL.

    Consumer Reports got 44mpg highway with their Accent/Rio. (And got 39mpg highway with their Elantra.)
    I read one guy lost like 5mpg after hitting an animal and the aerodynamics of the front bumper were messed up.

    Thanks. I actually am liking the Accent more and more with every drive. I also am getting used to its looks. I'm thinking it's not so bad after all. In fact, from a certain angle, it almost looks like the best-looking car ever, my 2002 Rio Cinco. The car is HUGE inside. And even in ECO mode, it has heaps of power, again, comparing it to my favorite-car-ever. I'm over 39MPG on the computer with my first tank of petrol. That's at a usual 45MPH with stoplights I saw the instant drop to 38 at 65MPH.

  • @avlisk
    @avlisk 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @dsourn My brother lives outside of Boston where you usually don't need AC,(he says), and always tries to find a car without it. He's still driving his 10 year old Escort because he can't find a new one. I'll have to tell him about the Accent. Not sure if he listens to the radio in the car, though. Knowing him, he might not. Note: he also has never bought a cell phone or GPS, so the color of his dentures won't matter either.

  • @legaladvocate71

    Sonata recall was issued after owners complained of steering wheel disconnect problems. An arbitrator ruled that Hyundai suffers from manufacturer defect motor mounts. An Inglewood California Hyundai dealer refused inspection to a Black car owner and called the Police to make sure his car was not inspected. Is this why you feel customers should buy Hyundai?

  • @camaroman101

    @andersonxe would be interesting for them to review the cars they own

  • @WesSeid
    @WesSeid 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think this is a nice car, especially for the money. The Accent and Rio don't have a huge upcharge just because you want the 5-door instead of the sedan either like some cars do.
    I'm more apt to think the Nissan Versa is a depressing car, but then again my friend drives the base version of one and loves it despite being able to easily afford a Lamborghini. Some people simply prefer value over other things.

  • @avlisk
    @avlisk 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Still looks more like my2002 Rio.Love the outtakes. If I were that fence, I would have been worried. The 40MPG-thing scares me. I figure they gear their transmissions to obtain that magic number, which destroys the real-world performance of the car in daily around-town driving. When I see 40MPG, I run the other way. It's one reason I'm looking at the 4 speed automatic Yaris. Light weight equals great MPG and they didn't succumb to the 40 MPG hype. What do you guys think of my hypothesis? Thanks.

  • @roadfly
    @roadfly  12 ปีที่แล้ว

    @venom5809 I here ya on the cars. The real issue is that we're based out of DC and the press fleets in the DC area are terrible in terms of cool, fun cars. We have no exotics at all. Lamborghini is based here now so we'll get one soon but other than that we have to go to Miami or LA to get the nice cars. It is on our to do list for sure.

    I have to admit when I saw the 2012 sedan I was impressed at the new dramatic styling following the Elantra and Sonata but when I saw that the engine was the same GDI as the Elantra I thought wow Hyundais not fooling around here. Then I saw the Accent 5 Dr. And said, we finally have choices again and like Charlie said there are no bad cars now. Mostly preference and warranties. And I found most makes will add a great warranty if that's why you're on the fence.

    My accent cames with 14 inches wheels. Its body is very low and i have a friction problem.
    I think to solve this with 15 inches wheels.
    Don't you think that 16 inches w is too high and that gona to affect the center of the gravity of the car.
    There is also the problem of the load . i.e. when you increase the diameter of wheels it gona to affect the engine performances

    Howdy Ms. Kreft: I enjoy your road tests...they are quite informative and well done!
    My one question concerning the Hyundai Accent SE:
    Why do you think Hyundai doesn't offer a sunroof option with the top of the line SE model?
    I'm curious about that, considering that at one time (with the previous generation's model 3dr SE) a sunroof was either available optionally or standard equipment ( I don't remember which).
    Looking forward to more of your test...
    Thanx!
    Peace!

    @roadflytv That # is better than nothing. If you flog X car and you flog Y car and you flog Z car then you have the MPG for the car when it's driven hard. Why not put it out?
    And Kreft says she drove it for a week. She was doing 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs during the whole week?
    The EPA estimates are more miss than hit. Look at Roman Mica's and Ross's gas mileage with the Outlander Sport. They weren't getting anywhere near the EPA rating. It would be good information to know.

(Dint she just say they have one with no these two options) If someone does then is shocking because with that kind of money, you car get an extremely reliable car with air conditioning and stereo/radio. You gotta be kidding me. Eliza you did a great job and reviewing this small super economy car for people who just wanna get from point A to point B.

So much power that I've even turned on the ECO mode for around town. It's smooth, quiet, powerful, and still uuuulgy. I've opened the garage door so I can keep looking at the car sitting there to try and get used to the look. Help, my car is melting!
