Lonely and in the cold of night, the haku mele appeals to a loved one - ‘auhea wale ana ‘oe, ku‘u lei o ka pō? His proposal promises warmth as fire provides, referencing the famed "ahi Lele o Makana." Originally one verse and chorus, the mele was amended by haku mele and Nāpua's uncle, Larry Lindsey Kimura, for Manalani English's performance that would distinguish her as Miss Aloha Hula 2013. The words here, though simple at a glance, embody that of aloha: simple, pure, and genuine.
