    Mahabharatham, no matter how many times it gets rewritten is a noble and welcome activity, provided IT IS DONE WITH NIL DEVIATION from what has been presented to us by Sage Vyasa. This is an almost impossible task, as none of us sure of the so-called original Vyasa's version. There is a southern oriental version published by the doyen Mahavidwan Manalur Ramanujacharyar, famously known as the Kumbhakonam print, now brought out by Sri Chakra publications. This voluminous rendition in itself is based largely on then accepted Krishnamacharya version. In any case, this has characteristic differences from Ganguly's English translation, liberally encouraged by the then British. Though I am not an authority on this matter, great vidhvans of yester era, especially those ( a century and more back) Sanskrit and Vedic scholars hailing from old undivided Tanjore, were of the opinion that this Kumbhakonam print could be the closest one to representing the TRUTH, in that it would have earned the approval of none other than Vyasa himself, if one were to use poetic license to convey the fact. It is because, the Tamil translation was rendered by people who had anubhuthi, this will be obvious to those who read this great work with faith and devotion. The shanthi parva (two stout volumes currently) is a testimony to this. As some one mentioned in your you tube video, the Tamil style is very much archaic, a bit difficult to get used to, but recall that Mahvidvan Ramanujacharya, the volume editor and original publisher is a Tamil scholar of no mean merit as compared to those who are sitting on the podium, Tongue in cheek comments can be made about the old language style adopted, but little we know that this work adhered to the original like a true pathivrata to her husband, not being bothered about simplifying or cheapening the contents so that it can be made attractive present day dravidian Tamil educated youth. Only when there is zero deviation from what has been handed over to us by Sage Vyasa, it is fit enough to be called VYASA BHARATHAM. as Tamil speaking people, we must be gratuitous to this Kumbhakonam print. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL VYASA BHARATHAM. I can say this with a touch of authoritu, as I can say with all humility, that I have read both Ganguly's translation and the great magnum opus of Ramanujacharya,. Rest are all imitations, no matter how modern are they; but they have relevance amidst people who are after all after imitation jewellery. No offence is meant in my posting; my sincere appreciations and blessings to the writer who worked hard for bringing out this so-called Vyasa Bharatham.
