the sound of the exhaust when it bounces off the mountains is crazy
Props for driving a subie way it’s meant too, can’t wait to drive a wrx one day !!! (I hav xt foz)
Same here, getting her ready for the canyons/track!
I mean technically adding some dirt in there would be "how its meant too" haha
Driving on this road at night must be insane, wish i had more twisty roads nearby.
Same, i live in a super mountainous region (alaska) but theres barely any touge roads here, i still make it work tho :)
I have a touge road going to my house (colorado) and ive practiced it many times, i love it in the 04 wagon. Best time to go is at night tbh
this is the bugeye content I need
Really nice sounding car, please for your own safety working on your steering and hand placement you are shuffling so much as also jerking the wheel, 9 and 3 hand placement as long as you can, you will eventually slip or get hands tangled up and not be able to react fast enough and go off road especially on roads like this with literally no shoulder.
Seems like he’s not running power steering?? Not sure
@@lxchie8137 Defiently running PS just an inexperienced driver having fun.
pretty nice driving, you seem to know your limits quite well.
you said you had a bit of understeer, and yes some of it can be combated by trailbraking more but also in some corners like at 12:59 you jerked the wheel and did multiple adjustments mid corner. moving the wheel too quickly can induce both oversteer (4:11) and understeer (4:40) depending on the situation like it did in different parts of this run. try turning in to corners and commit to a trajectory, minimise steering imput (unless its necessary). you will find that you will have a more compliant car and might even get a bit less understeer and oversteer as a consiquence (also trailbraking will be easier when the cars limits are more predictable).
even though i dont like to criticize driving because every car is different, you are right sir. You know how they say, slow is smooth and smooth is fast!
I can't believe it took me years to find out. It changed my driving
He should be using hand over hand for his steering technique too and acceleration on a corners exit will also keep any AWD car stable
Y’all act like u kno how to drive
@@Cloutback y'all? what are you, straight out of a country town in the middle of nowhere?
Keep posting please! Also, it would be cool to see what all you've done with the car. It sounds and looks really nice!
I went over some stuff i did to the car in the intro :) but i could do another video by itself
@scooby_rex ah I missed that part, I probably skipped to the driving! 🤣 But yeah, a more detailed video would be awesome!

Hey tortilla flat!, love this canyon run!
As a bugeye owner since 2005... ur car is too low to do anything at any limit. Raise it and your understeer will be mitigated. Especially the push mid corner. Larger rear sway bar will also help a lot.
This is why when i lowered my outback I only lowered it a little bit, it's way more stable and I can push it super hard when I feel like it
It's crazy how people think "OH, I MUST PUT STIFFER SUSPENSION AND LOWER IT VUZ PERFURMENT!" When in actuality, it hinders it so much. Cars come out the factory already quite sporty in their handling, even comfort models.
I mean, honestly, even little cars like Citroen C1s and Hyundai I10s handle real well for what they are. These companies know what they're doing.
@@callumpearce9242 I don't entirely agree with that on a lot of cars there's a gap you can fit your whole hand into and a lot of factory suspension systems are designed to be squishy so not sporty
@1mawesomel1kethat I know, but I was exaggerating a bit got a little emotional from seeing people just destroy decently sporty cars, like mk3 and mk4 golfs, E36s, Subarus, etc.
What I mean to say, or convey, is to get a proper sporty suspension, you probably gotta get it tested, balanced, etc from a professional tuner to actually improve performance and handling.
@@callumpearce9242 if you're going racing sure but for street use a standard setting works fine. I got BC racing coilovers on my Subaru Outback wagon so I got a little bit of knowledge 🤏 my wagon is also on my channel if you want to check it out
Absolute madness 🌵
nice roads nice car w video
bootiful video👍
very nice! one of my favorite things to do. this road looks familiar! i think theres a viral video of a young guy driving an M3 and crashing it on these roads
Nice run! I'm surprised you didn't get stuck behind anyone on the way out there. I seem to always get stuck behind someone.
hey man, fellow AZ bugeye owner, was wondering how you wired up that STI dash to show outside temp gauges in ur car
its a weird mod that im looking to do thanks!
My boy hit the algorithm 👍🏼
what exhaust/ewg/bov setup are you running? sounds amazing
that downpipe sounds insaneee!
pops and bangs go crazyyy
@@scooby_rex💯💯💯💯
@@scooby_rexyou should definitely change your steering style to hand over hand, your really going to cause an accident with the shuffle hand steering. It'll also helps you feel more in control of your vehicle
@@1mawesomel1kethat yeah I don’t plan on going back until I change it to a 320mm. My elbows hit my side bolsters when I do deeper turns. 350mm not good enough for me 🤷
This is an awesome video, love the car too. I was wondering if you could do a more in-depth video on your wrx. Also what did you do to make it crackle so much? Is it a tuning thing like running more rich? I have an 03 Blobeye with aftermarket uel headers, catless downpipe and just a small muffler on the back. 3" all the way back. Got a fmic too that's blanked with no bov.
Ever since I got my catless down pipe it pops a lot more, a more free flowing catback would make it more audible
@@scooby_rex Thanks for the reply. Keen to see more videos ✌
damn nice video
Very jealous of the roads you guys have over in the US. And of the lenient Highway Patrol as well.
Sick video nonetheless.
THE scooby rex 😍
nice car my fav sti model
Nice car and solid driving skill bro
Don't know about the driving skills. Steering inputs aren't smooth and screeching almost every corner. Car's cool as tho
@@riffcover9000 tires screech on turns dawg its a part of driving and hitting corners hard?? u dumb?? ;p;
Hi. Has a bugeye owner, i want ask why did you set the "rev limiter advisor" so low (seems 5000 rpm), and then you ignore it? 😅
AWESOME SAUCE!
Love driving canyon lake tortilla flat road in my Subie as well!!
bugeye is the angriest but most beautiful face in subie!!!
i miss my subie!!
Nice video man! Like some others have said I think you should really work on hand placement while steering. shuffling your hands around like that stressed me out, there's really no room for error on some of those corners.
why i clicked the video: saw the miniature days ago i had to check when it came back
Why and when i left: 0:45 i already saw the video goddamit it was great
Sick bugeye what do you use to record and edit?
hero 11 and vegas pro!
Is that a blobeye dashboard cause bug eyes don’t have does where it lights red
That was nice, but watch out for your hand on the steering wheel. Its completely wrong. If you need to correct the car for any sort of reason, you gonna end up crashing due that.
It will also improve your confidence and driving skills as a side effect, so, look into it.
Nice vid brotha I got a bugeye like yours lowered on bcs with front and rear sway bar + nvidia catback exhaust that’s it though. I was wondering how’s your steering? I got the stock steering wheel on mine and it’s really loose, you have to turn it a lil bit for it to actually start turning. was wondering if you had these problems and what you did to fix it
Nice setup I’m looking for swaybars too front and back. Steering has always been the weakness in my car too the steering ratio just sucks. Even with my 350mm momo steering wheel I feel like I should’ve stayed with my stock momo it’s easier to turn. Best solution I’ve seen is to swap the steering rack with a 15 STI rack, you gotta fabricate to fit a little, either that or find a Quick rack. One thing I also noticed is with smaller tires it’s easier to turn, AND find lightweight rims.
@@scooby_rex thanks for the info man gonna keep all that in mind 👍
@@cyka9448 you can try looking into a 330mm steering wheel, it will be better actually. I’m trying to downsize more for more input
@@scooby_rex Def gonna look into that, thanks for the info
bro casually forgot he had GDB tail lights
Why is the shift light at 5000 rpm?
Is your gopro in superview? Curious on the settings you used?
using wide on 2.7k @ 60fps
These are some nice roads, is this Arizona? Also nice subie!
AZ :)

Whats the suspension setup?
sitting on bc coilovers :)
@@scooby_rex Wow, Is that all?
@@raizueeeverything else is factory. Plan on getting sway bars soon
Where is this man?
Arizona
Love the vid, but you should learn to stop shuffling your hands in the tighter turns. Every time you remove your hand from the 9-3 position you lose your reference point to the car. Try and stay on 9-3 then hand-over-hand if you can't turn any farther, it's hard to get used to but will drastically improve your driving.
i live like 3 mins from canyon lake lol I got an 04 wrx too haha
🤙
Need to apply gas while turning in subies man. Feel it out obviously; but you will notice less of that understeer you were experiencing.
this steering technique is a bit of an eyesore
Nice vid but you still got major skill issue bro no offense more practice pls that 2:17 overshoot is hella dangerous
bad drivers
Hand positioning is absolutely atrocious and way too much shuffling. You might feel better with a 365MM or a 350MM on a GD. If you were the homie and I was the passenger, I'd get out of the car.
