  • How to make homemade fertilizer with coffee, egg shells for Bangladeshi plants in the UK?
To make homemade #fertilizer using #coffee grounds and #eggshells for plants in the UK, you can follow these steps:
    1. Gather coffee grounds: Save the coffee grounds from your daily coffee brewing. You can use both used coffee grounds and fresh ones.
    2. Collect eggshells: Save the eggshells after using them in your cooking. Rinse them with water to remove any residue and allow them to dry.
    3. Grind the eggshells: Once the eggshells are dry, crush them into small pieces or grind them into a fine powder using a blender or a mortar and pestle. Grinding the eggshells helps them break down faster and release their nutrients more efficiently.
    4. Mix coffee grounds and eggshells: In a container or a bucket, combine the coffee grounds and ground eggshells in a 1:1 ratio. For example, if you have 1 cup of coffee grounds, add 1 cup of crushed eggshells.
    5. Blend the mixture: Use a hand shovel or a mixing tool to blend the coffee grounds and eggshells together thoroughly. This will ensure an even distribution of nutrients in the fertilizer.
    6. Allow the mixture to decompose: Transfer the blended mixture into a compost bin or a large container with a lid. Keep the lid slightly ajar to allow air circulation. Place the container in a cool, dry area such as a garage or shed. Let the mixture decompose for about two to three weeks. During this time, the organic materials will break down and release nutrients into the fertilizer.
    7. Apply the fertilizer: Once the mixture has decomposed, it is ready to use as a fertilizer. Sprinkle the homemade fertilizer around the base of your plants, avoiding direct contact with the stems or leaves. Gently work the fertilizer into the soil, then water your plants as usual.
Note: This homemade fertilizer is suitable for most plants, but it's always a good idea to observe your plants' reactions and adjust the amount of fertilizer accordingly. Additionally, coffee grounds and eggshells are mildly acidic, so they may be more suitable for acid-loving plants such as azaleas, rhododendrons, and blueberries. For other plants, it's best to use this fertilizer sparingly or dilute it further with compost or water. My sister's channels:
