You don't have to be of African descent to identify with this. With Croatians, as soon as the "community" finds out you're going home to the "old country", little old Aunties appear from everywhere to give you packets of money to give to relatives back in the village. It's a responsibility that you really don't need or want when on holiday. Like the young couple in the clip, it pays to "sneak away" and not tell anyone...if you can!!

Because in the past sending foreign care packages and ordering things from other countries used to be a near impossibility. Either it was prohibitively expensive, or you couldn't trust the mail service, or it was outright impossible to do as a private person. So in many cases this way was the only way people could send things to people in other countries and trust that it would end up where they wanted it to.

This isn't just African. I'm a white guy from rural Canada. Whenever you go anywhere, you have to take at least one cardboard box full of local stuff for someone's relative who lives on the Mainland. People even post things on social media asking things like "Is anyone going to Toronto who can take a Care Package (that's what a box full of local goodies is called) to my granddaughter in Missasauga?" Lol. I think it's because rural people live a more "traditional" lifestyle, and I think that a lot of Africans have the same kind of "help your neighbours, treasure your family, share with others because we all need each other to survive" mentality. I think that's pretty common around the world outside North America and Europe, though it still survives in some places, like here. The similarities between us are more important than our differences.

This is also a Bangladeshi - Indian - Pakistani - Afghan - Sri Lankan- Nepali thing. Trust me. Once in 2006 when my family were going back to Bangladesh my mum said to one of my aunt's ( cousin aunt's - those who are immigrants know hahaha our family lineage can go back to Queen Victoria hahah) we are going on a Wednesday ( summer holiday starting date). You won't believe it, both aunt and uncle had the audacity to call in sick at work on Monday and guess what they ended up going fricking Matalan and Primark to purchase some goods to give to their tribe. They did their shopping and then called my mum in the evening to say we have items to send. My brothers and sisters of TH-cam - they bought 1.5 suitcases to send , they even bought a new suitcase to send. 40 kilos to send, what about ours. My mum turned around and said I will take 5-10 pieces of clothing but that's it. They were hurt, lool they didn't even talk to us for 2 years after. Hahaha. Long story apologies but this clip isn't even exaggerating. Now when we go we don't say when we going !

Well well 😂😂😂, this is why the queues at the check in desks for flights to Africa always look like no one is hardly moving due to the mountain of countless luggage we carry as others wonder who's behind pushing the trolley.

As a West Indian, I can definitely relate and swear by that this is all true, but where are the heavy overstuffed barrels and huge cardboard boxes wrapped with yards of silver duck tape, that would be overweight and people arguing about who packed this in the airport terminal desperately trying to stuff things in a carry-on. Good times, not.

That's what happens whenever someone goes to Vietnam too. We have a big Vietnamese community in the San Francisco Bay Area. Whenever my mom goes, everybody tries to send stuff back. Our house in Vietnam becomes a post office where people we have never met before come to pick up stuff. One time, we had a person tries to send back a huge sealed box. We told her there there was no way we would take anything across borders without seeing them first. She had to open the box. It was random stuff not worth mentioning. But still, why did she expect us to take a box with unknown content. Side note: trafficking drugs, even marijuana, into Vietnam carries a death penalty.
