    Here's more photos and details on the shoes. Huge thing I missed, the Vapor Glove 5 shoes are TWO oz lighter than the Vapor Glove 4. askoshbetter.com/2021/04/11/vapor-glove-5-vs-vapor-glove-4-merrell-barefoot-shoe-review/

    You didn't really go into fitment and sizing comparisons with previous models. Also wondering if you've used any of the Trail Glove iterations and how the new Vapors might compare to those.
    've worn Trail Gloves since version 2 and versions 5 and 6 were just awful in my opinion - far too rigid, *crazy* crazy high arch support - totally different shoe, so I'm looking at the Vapor Glove now.

    The no tongue design is great. I always wondered why almost every shoe has a tongue when its possible to make them without one. Tongues just move to the side or slide in

      I've only had a glue issue on the Vapor Glove Luna Leather. Not catastropic, but the sole started to peel away on the edges.
      I've not have glue issues with the Vapor Glove 3, 4, or 5.

    The 4’s have amazing traction. During winter freeze in Houston, these were the only shoes I could wear on slippery ice. I was slipping in my Fivefinger V-trek (which I love)

    • @adimperial

      5 is wider because it’s more of a sloppy fit. Like house shoes. I returned them. The 4’s are really the best. Glove like fit

    I use the merrell trail glove 5s myself for backpacking sections of the Appalachian trail, I've got about 4,000 plus miles on the same pair im wearing now ,and ive had them for 5 years ..There awesome , i dont care for the tan/brown gum soles on the trail though they seem to shread on those merrells like crazy. I wear them with 5 finger socks myself, cuts down on blisters around the toes and your toes are still allowed to splay .

    It looks like the toe box has gotten even smaller?

    • @nathancorliss
      @nathancorliss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It feels about the same to the Vapor Glove 4 to me. The style may make it look narrower. This said, the Vapor Gloves are known for having super wide toe boxes if that's a need of your feet.

    oh, they nailed the looks of these 5s !!! love it!! good time be barefoot shoe person nowadays, spoiled for choice! Btw, it would be great to hear about how they wear after you've done some miles in them because i've got the threes and not happy with durability of the upper.. wearing out and ripping on the sides of the ball of the foot.. esp next to big toe.. commonly reported thing

    • @nathancorliss

      Yeah! I'm now wearing these on my morning jogs and will take them on some sprints as well. The 4 and 5 shoes have different material than the 3 shoes and my 4 shoes have held up better for me. It'll be interesting to see if the 5 does the same.

    Enjoyed this review! Currently have worn the 4's for about a year and liked everything about them except where the tread comes up over the toe box, so really glad to see that fixed!
    How have you liked the 5's since this video? I just bought some.

    • @nathancorliss
      @nathancorliss  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I like them a lot! I still need to do an updated video.
      Cons:
      1. the tread remains a little stiffer than the fours
      2. The heel doesn't have any padding on it, so I've occasionally gotten some friction blisters on my heel
      Pros
      1. I still think its a superior shoe in terms of appearance
      2. The upper mesh around the outside ball of my foot and little toes, is still holding strong with no sign of wear yet.
      I stand by my original review despite the two cons listed above.

  • @Stanatak
    @Stanatak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    it sure looks better on the video than in the pictures.
    could you tell a bit more about the shoe itself? does the sole still bend all the way. I have trail glove 6 and as it stillis comfortable and wide it has added arch support that makes it fell way less barefoot

    • @nathancorliss
      @nathancorliss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. The Vapor Glove 5 is just as bendable as the Vapor Glove 4. Both shoes completely roll up with little effort. The Vapor Gloves have no rigidity and almost no support, unlike the Trail Glove.

    How durable are these shoes?

    • @nathancorliss
      @nathancorliss  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I anticipate they will be fairly durable. More durable than the Vapor Glove 3, and likely more durable than the Vapor Glove 4. The reason I say "likely" is because the Vapor Glove 5 is 2 oz lighter than the 4. This means they're using lighter materials or less material --- if the materials are lighter + higher quality that's the sweet spot. If they're just lighter wear issues could develop, but I think they'll hold their own against the 4 and every day use (for me at least).
