Nice video, but when shooting with such a wide aperture lens, consider doing manual focus for these shots? The bokeh can be quite beautiful if the focus plane is actually on the bike, and not on some random part of his hand.
You don't necessarily need to manually pull focus, some cameras support only pulling focus when you ask the camera to pull focus, which allows you to avoid unwanted re-focusing mid shot. Some cameras also allow you to select which part of the image the camera should focus on, which can also be helpful.
Not gonna lie. The way he snapped the chain in place was so satisfying. This build clearly wasn't his first rodeo.
I let out an audible gasp when he hit the crank to set the chain. Clearly a move of someone who’s done that a few times. It was an absolutely stunning maneuver and I enjoyed it so much more than I should have.
4:43 Holding in the laughter. 😂
Beautiful bike 😍. Interesting choice with the 1x. I think they look great without all the clutter of the extra chainring and derailleur, I’m considering it myself. What’s your gearing ratio? 🤔
Hope you were sponsored and didn't buy this. GS1 is an open mould Chinese frame (regular retail $5-600). It's a nice one, granted, but they're up-charging nearly $2k for the frameset ...
He could have used Hunt wheels to to really double down on that phenomenon.
I was wondering whether it was open mould or not, do you have a link to the factory producer?
Where can we find this frame?
It's like bike building ASMR
6:07 wowowowow
Cycling porn. (Edit: tape job is questionable. 😂)
Me building a bike is a horror comedy. Scary at first, but it always works out after ordering a new tool or exchanging for correct size after I drunk order stuff.
For me he is wrapping in the wrong direction...
The tech was using PB Swiss allen wrenches 👏👏 I have 2 sets myself from my field days! Best allen I've ever used, just tough to find in the States!
Oh so Jason built it, makes sense why you had nothing but issues on the first ride...
Shots fired.
@@NorCalCycling we used to work together lol. He's actually getting married today!
400+ watts with the wheels and derailleur both half underground can't have helped.
Just curious, what brand B-gap tool is he using?
Why is the tape being wrapped center-out? (from stem towards bar ends)
(and how is the bike standing up at 9:18?)
Stick propping up the rear wheel
@@christopherbudden1652 -- good eyes. Sneaky, that.
Wrapping from top to bottom makes it look cleaner up top, you don't need to cut or use finishing tape that way. Just preference, though. I will say, if you're using a new handlebar tape you haven't tried before, don't do it, because you could run out before you get to the bottom.
I have to ask, the bar tape wrapping, how has no one else commented on this, do many people wrap this way? Does it mean that it really doesn't matter how you wrap tape?
A) it really matters; but B) nobody agrees on which way is correct: bottom-up, top-down, in-out vs. out-in, figure-8 vs. no figure-8, use the provided finishing tape vs. electrical tape... No matter how you do it, you're surely doing it wrong.
@@marcj8464 Bottom to Top, In to Out, figure 8, and use electrical tape to secure/ finishing tape for looks.
@@marcj8464 knowing for certain I am doing it wrong no matter what is actually a lot easier to deal with than never being right without knowing. But seriously, top-down, I have never seen this before, my mind is blown.
Purists will say bottom to top/ in to out but with rubbery stretchy compound tapes, it doesn't matter much. They are sticky and there are bugger ridges to roll up. There are no rules in cycling except N+1.
@@tewaewae Is it the N+1 formular for the number of bikes you can own? (Where N is the number of bikes you currently have)
You have to make a review of the Ventum NS1 weight and stiffness...sick 14.9lbs for an aero disc bike, how does it compare to SL7??
Is this just a chinese open mould frame? Looks like it
Nope.
@@kidsafe So this company has their own factory? No way
@@pedrohack2869 Trek and Canyon don’t have their own factories...they contract Quest Composite in China. Specialized uses Topkey in Taiwan for S-Works level frames. That doesn’t mean their frames are open mold. You seem to have confused two different things.
It is open mould, yes. Straight off the books of Flybike or Fibertek.
@@pmcmpc Go find it and link it. I dare you. ;)
Jeff - where did you learn your bike maintenance skills? Internet and youtube? What would be your 3-5 most beneficial repair/maintenance skills to learn well? Love the content bro!
This isn't jeff putting the bike together
@@jackso0926 Yeah I know I've been following for a while now, its a video suggestion if he ever runs out of ideas (he won't)
@@julianb1550 not a bad idea, everyone can use some advice on working on bikes
Hi from Canada
I'm a top-to-bottom wrapper too. Never seen bar plugs like those before though - really neat. Anyone know what brand they are ?
Enve
they are not plugs; they are rubber flanges/tips integrated on to the ends of the enve bars. you have to saw them off for Di2
Satisfying
Wait that is just a re labeled frame from flybike. Price is around 600 eurodollar.
This company ripped you off.
Can you tell me the model number?
Or is it a cyclocross frame?
are we just going to ignore that he put the cassette on with ZERO problem?
Cool $9000 bike, the pastel colors with the Enve finishing kit, very dentist-chic. I thought Ventum's whole deal was that they were more affordable because they're D2C? Guess there's a bike shortage, might as well bend as many people over the barrel as you can while the getting is good, give 'em a spanking and see what falls outta their pockets eh?
you must be fun to hang out with.
@@tewaewae Sram Rival costs as much as Dura Ace 9000 did when it was new, and this bike costs as much as a down payment on a house 10 years ago, but yeah I agree it's more fun to just go along for the ride, this barrel feels pretty comfy to bend over anyways. Shut up and take my money, bike industry!
Top a bike vai ter videos voce pedalando com ela??
Jeff who is the mechanic.
Sick bike!! I have a question, i do own a racebike but would i go faster if i put gravel wheels on it? And on 8:25 you see 2 bolts in the frame? For what reasons? Its not like you put a water bottle there. Recently started cycling! I felt in love with it!!
it's for a screw-on top tube bag. lots of triathletes, adventure and gravel bikers have those
If you’re taking gravel wheels onto the pavement, you’re gonna be slower.
lollll nice execution
red mullet drivetrain eh? looks good
Biking is so expensive T-T
DISC break bike is still to expensive for me >_<
save rim and pass down the saving to the consumer!
Sheeeeeesh
Just in time for Unbound?!
No more Mike Bikes?
If that bike had external cable routing, this video would only be 4 minutes long. Oh, your record player is stuck playing the same thing. :p
a music video...appreciate commentary even more though.
5:35 oops
I dont see the point of gravel bikes
Agree. 95% of these parts could be on a road/crit bike. Even frame geometry looks crit-esque. Also don’t really get the point of aero wheels on gravel bike considering the tires bulge out and have knobby tread. Whatever lol.
@@RacksonRacksonRibss like o see the point of trying to be aro but in mountain you prefer to have a suspension like in a cross country bike it'll get you way more speed
Et t'as le p🤔 ids ??? 🚲
