Happy New Year🎉 I’m with you …not excited nor disappointed. I was interested at the idea of it when the news was dropped months ago but as those months passed that feeling went away. I’m going to Japan this spring and using our money for that trip and doing vintage shopping is a higher priority. I had a great time doing vintage shopping this summer when I was in Tokyo and I can’t wait to do that again. I have some wish list bags I’d love to find (none of which are Murakami). So no FOMO here.
They were sold out before the drop date because I was online trying to buy either the speedy or the Alma BB on 1/3, as soon as the collection launched and they were already sold out lol. I NEVER buy LV because everyone has an LV bag but I loved this collection so I was willing to buy.
I own a lot of LV. The LE rollouts the last couple of years have made me a little bitter. I haven’t been able to obtain any items I would have wanted. I don’t even bother anymore. If I want anything LV I’ll look to resale to get an older piece that I’ve missed out on.
Resellers are the problem, people who bought it and didn’t like the bag keep the bag to resell it instead of returning it so someone that really wants it can get it. It’s them and resellers who are the problem.

Oh wow...times have changed. I've been purchasing off and on since 1980. We just walked in the LV in Beverly Hills or I.Magnin and just paid for what I wanted. My husband also bought me the Murakami Aurora shoulder bag...no issues, just walked in and picked it out and paid for it. I also have the Trouville Murakami. The last LV I really wanted was the limited edition Tahitienne Damier Azur. But I guess that's when they started prioritized VIP's. I wasn't going to pay double the price on the second market. I found a mirror replica....I got what I wanted at the fraction of the cost. At this point, I don't care enough, and I will NOT be manipulated.

I think that’s in relation to repeat items? You can’t purchase more than 2 of the same item? At least at any one time that I’m aware of under general circumstances. You couldn’t buy three of the exact same pochette accessoires etc.

Thanks for the insight into LV’s business strategies, they are really playing people. Unfortunately most individuals I’m guessing fall into their trap. And it’s ironic because I imagine most of their profits come from us lowly, nonVIP customers. I am not an LV big spender and never will be. I’m not one to “collect” their stuff and clamor after the latest Vivienne or new release. Most of my LV spending is practical, buying pieces that I absolutely love. Admittedly though, it can be hard to not get caught up in the hype.
As a VIC who was NEVER presented with the option to pre-order the collection, I will pick up my sneakers, sandals and twillies tomorrow, and unless they have my black Mirakami Alma BB, I will now move over to Hermes as this news is extremely disappointing. Note my SA left the company and no one picked me up. So my Hermes SA and I are meeting after I get my LV items to order boots, a Kelly and a Constance. Bye, bye LV time to adds some Hermes bags to my extensive Hermes shoe collection!
I was told that the 2nd drop of Murakami this Friday only includes 4-5 items - the skateboard, the round bag and a couple of accessories. The Speedy, Alma, Pochette, i.e., the popular handbags won’t be included in this 2nd drop. Can’t wait to see if we are being misled and hyped up for nothing again.
Honestly, I don’t have an issue with the tier system. My issue is marketing to the general public with no way for them to purchase the more popular and less expensive items. I don’t think the bait and switch worked as I haven’t seen or read anyone saying that they purchased something else not Murakami. A lot of people may not have been able to purchase their 1st or 2nd choice in store but they either left with a piece that they settled for or nothing at all. The money I was going to spend towards this launch is now going to another brand and all I want from this collection is the key pouch. They alienated me as a client and will only buy unique pieces here and there if available. As I’ve mentioned this in all my previous posts the collection seemed to be for all the people in the Asian market including Australia but not so much in North America. Food for thought…maybe all of North America is the bottom tier? J.
I talked to a couple of customer service reps on the phone the past couple of days they just said no inventory is available. I was able to get a few pieces into my cart on launch day but it wouldn’t let me pay so I didn’t get them. So it seems online shoppers have a slim chance of getting this collection? I was so looking forward to adding a few pieces to my collection but now have come to terms that I most likely will not get any. I will look into the vintage pieces now.
I was able to preorder cles and Imagination perfume. On Friday my CA was able to find a bracelet I wanted at the New York store. Didn’t want a bag because I think they look dated.
I snoozed on the general pre-order, went in the two shops in my area on launch day, no lines because the stores are in our two resort areas here on Maui and our local population is only 164,000. All the items except a 3 or 4 were taken in pre-order in both stores. My SA was able to order me the CarryAll online in store, as the items were quickly disappearing. I see that my order is stalled at the validation level, so not looking good lol. The 2003 collection ran for a few years didn’t it? Or at least a year or two? Hoping for that.

Girl LOL. As a 35 year old millennial, let me tell you I was 13 years old when the first drop was made and 16 years old when mean girls came out and skyrocketed this collab to the moon. Totally agree that LV probably won’t adjust their approach in the future. I don’t think “fair” really comes into it for me, since it is luxury sales, after all-sure, give your cash cow clients the priority, use the tier system, whatever. It’s the hypocrisy of the huge marketing blast when none of it was really meant for “us” that rankles. Like, don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth, LV! 😂 As for me, a bag wasn’t in my budget (so much the better, given their scarcity), but I managed to get a bandeau through my CA the day of, and a perfume through another CA on IG this weekend. I literally just walked into saks LV in NY and was able to get the Murakami Clemence Wallet. It wasn’t my fist choice but I was just happy I got a piece from the collection. I don’t think they would have anything. They also had a bracelet that I passed on. Just got lucky I guess!
This makes me feel awful! I spend my money every year. May not add up to 25k but the thought of constantly spending money at the LV store and they treat us like we are not important makes me want to never go back and take my money somewhere else.
This whole presale is a joke and frankly disappointing for us older LV fans. I emailed my SA and she never responded. Called LV and the SA on the phone told me she had no information even after I already accessed the presale link and provided the item number. It would just be common courtesy to say that the presale was VIC only so I could stay in my lane.
Our local Louis Vuitton wouldn’t even allow me to look at the look book. She said she would email it to me and never did. My sis and I still got a few pieces.

I’m def only a very low level if you can call it a VIC in Aus, but was able to preorder what I wanted - the PA in white, GM cosmetic case and the Marelini in black. I was always allowed to order the same PA for my neighbour. Unfortunately, I realised after pre orders closed I wanted some SLGS too and that was a bit crazy. I had to pay in full as you mentioned previously and even then it’s not guaranteed. CA put the order through on 3/4 Jan Aus time. And two of the items have been pending validation for days… (the Romy in pink and the Rosalie coin purse). Micro pochette was confirmed and is on its way but I realised the last image on the site seems wrong- it’s a lot smaller than depicted - would love your thoughts on that! ❤
@@dialmstyle thank you! So if you look at the last image of the micro pochette - it's what made me decide buy it! The first few images it looks small, like a bag charm but the last photo it's attached to what I think is the speedy 25 bondouliere which is 19cm in height - and the pochette looks to be at least half the length. Also - micro pochette is an actual size! It's smaller than the mini pochette but not by much. I saw other people get them from different seasonal collections. I was a bit upset to realise I've ordered a bag charm! They should say that in the description...
Sounds like the inventory system needs a rehaul. If its a special launch, they shouldn't mix stock in store with stock online, I can totally understand people's frustration if the website said an item was available instore, lining up before opening only to be told its not available.. If a client buys over the phone and has paid, that item should be taken off the inventory. And if the manager or CA puts an item on hold, it should go into a on hold category and the item taken off the stock available category. And they should only hold the item for 3 hours. And surely they would've known before launch date that most items were out of stock online and should have just posted "unavailable/out of stock" and few items available should have "limited stock" so people knew what to expect. I think because the Kusama collection didn't do well in the US or UK, LV thought it would be the same for Murakami and were underprepared for the demand. In Australia, we weren't offered a lot of the slgs that I see available in other countries (eg key pouch, Lisa wallet, mini pochette) and some items i ordered says "pending validation". so I don't know if my order will be cancelled or not. Japan has more selection and stock but that's to be expected as Takeshi is Japanese and they are in general more into the cutesy things so LV would've expected a huge demand there,
What’s also not being said is that people that rank and can buy the pieces WILL buy as much as possible to resale at a significant increase in price. I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
I am not a VIC but I was able to get the black key pouch and black pochette assessoire. I have to admit that I do really love them. I have a CA, but I am not a big purchaser, and to be able to buy two of the more moderately priced items was just sheer luck. I do think the whole thing has been a shit show and I guess you could say that I am part of the problem. I watched a gal today reveal 17 items that she purchased from this collection. Kinda made me feel sick, that is some consumption!
I tried getting those multicolor/superflat notebooks at the app last week and it kept crashing. I went to the actual LV store last weekend to order it for pickup, so I’m ready to be underwhelmed. 🙄 What’s the time for this Friday’s release: PST or EST?
Yeah but the Fake Chinese sellers have not yet released a Master Copy of the Murakami collection. The ones I see posted by the Chinese Sellers at this time is still pretty ugly quality so I personally will be waiting for my favorite factories before we order the SuperFake Replica version.

It is so insulting that i have bought multiple bags and SLG's from LV but I guess my account is not important enough to pay for Murakami. This only makesm e not want to buy LV. Other brands are much kinder. Gucci never been like this.
I went in the store in Miami and had no problem purchasing the LV x TM LV Trainer Sneaker in white and I was on no pre approved list. I had no idea this was such a big deal.
Wow I thought Miami would love it! However, I never was a fan of the shoes, but now I think those trainers would be cute with various outfits and bags!
I went into store on launch day and ordered the 3 times I wanted. They arrived in store 2 days later for collection. My sister managed to get one wallet online but the website was a nightmare at launch with things selling out before showing as add to basket

well my ca in Germany told me from the beginning that preorder is VIC only so I never got my hope up and bought a cardholder online

I got a Speedy and NF in Nov preorder. it shipped when launched and had no problems. This is for collectors not the mass public.

It is so insulting that i have bought multiple bags and SLG's from LV but I guess my account is not important enough to pay for Murakami. This only makesm e not want to buy LV. Other brands are much kinder. Gucci never been like this.

I went in the store in Miami and had no problem purchasing the LV x TM LV Trainer Sneaker in white and I was on no pre approved list. I had no idea this was such a big deal.

I went into store on launch day and ordered the 3 times I wanted. They arrived in store 2 days later for collection. My sister managed to get one wallet online but the website was a nightmare at launch with things selling out before showing as add to basket

This kind of comment is why I hope the market is flooded with fake Murakami's.
Resellers are the problem, people who bought it and didn’t like the bag keep the bag to resell it instead of returning it so someone that really wants it can get it. It’s them and resellers who are the problem.
For the first time in my life, I will be buying a fake Louis Vuitton(white speedy) just as a middle finger for this terrible rollout.
