10 minute ZARU SOBA | Simple Recipe | Cook With Me

  • SOBA-LESSED for this 10 MINUTE ZARU SOBA RECIPE!
    This SIMPLE soba sauce uses only 4 items! It is the quickest and tastiest meal you can whip up in 10 minutes.
    Ingredients (1 serving):
    - 1 serving of japanese green tea noodles (soba)
    - 1/8 cup sake
    - 1/4 cup mirin
    - 1/4 cup soy sauce
    - 1/2 cup bonito flakes
    - scallions for garnish
    Instructions:
    1. Heat up a pot with your sake, mirin, soy sauce, and bonito flakes
    2. Let it boil. Once it boils, simmer for 5 minutes
    3. Strain it into a bowl (strains out the bonito flakes)
    4. Grab a bundle (1 serving) of japanese green tea soba noodles and cook it in a pot of hot water for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
    5. Strain the noodles and wash under cold water to rid of extra starch
    6. Place noodles into ice water bath until cool
    7. Prep dipping sauce by adding 2 parts sauce to 1 part cold water (I used 60ml:30ml)
    8. Plate noodles, garnish with scallion
    9. Dip noodles into sauce and enjoy!

    Notes:
    -Zaru means “strainer” in Japanese because they are strained. Soba means buckwheat. Zaru soba is just a cold soba noodle.-Do not add salt to the boiling water for the noodles
    -You can get these green tea soba noodles from T&T, Suzuya Japanese Market, or other asian markets!
    -If you prefer less salty sauce, you can use 3:1 sauce to water ratio. Adjust to your taste
