Of course it might change a little once I get the phone inside the case but I think it will be fine.
Seriously, this was the first thing I noticed and went “wow Mous…for the case that’s known for protection, that is a big miss. If the phone lands on that spot you are TOAST.” If I upgrade to a 15 pro I may get another limitless (assuming Kevlar case fit issue was fixed) a 16 though? I’m looking elsewhere.

Great Video Tee, a massive no for me. At this point I’d rather go Caseless. Currently rocking the Nomad Magnetic Leather Back and that’s the way forward for me 😂
I purchased Apple's silicone case with the 16 Pro Max. While I don't particularly love how it looks, I'll never buy a case with a massive cutout for the camera button.
Spigen has one as well and I think I’m probably going with that one because it’s probably the most protective one with the camera control button covered
@@Frankiee_Cruz currently its listed as out of stock so idk if they released it and it sold out or they just haven’t released it yet but already have the plans
The Apple silicon case should be the industry standard IMO. No fugly cutout, no exposing the phone to damage. Just a flush "button" that just works. I also get the feeling that Apple left their partners in the dark about their "fix" to the issue in order to sell more first party cases, but that's just my theory.
I believe that Apple silicone or clear case is the way to go, at least right out of the gate, until we see how the other companies choose to solve the camera button issue.
While most in the comments will say this is just lazy on the brands part, I will add that I’ve spoke to a few brands in the last few hours and I can understand why the cutout is the route they went with. Might made a follow up video explaining my findings but still love the comments and the conversation this is bringing up in the comments.
I mean it does make sense and understandable apple would be able to develop a better case to support camera control considering it's THEIR PHONE. I wonder how much time the other brands got a sample product to R&D a case that supports it? This still doesn't change the fact that apple as of right now is the way to go for cases.
Seeing that Supcase added that capacitive button tells me that Apple did share the info. So that means the other case companies knew but decided to go the cheap/easy way. I'll be skipping them this year.
I believe that the major issue with this cut out being open is that Dirt and grime can get down in there and build up overtime. For me it has to be a cover on that camera button so I’m gonna go with the Apple Silicon case.
I typically buy 5-10 cases each year for my new iPhone, but let me be clear, if your case has a cutout, you won’t be getting my money. I’ve gone with the Apple silicone case for now and I’ll be keeping an eye on what other companies come up with.
I just ordered a few SPIGEN cases because their cut out approach "looks" like it might actually work with the button. No way to know for sure without actually trying it for myself. Already returned my brand new Andar Aspen leather case over their HIDEOUSLY HUGE CUT OUT into the side of a once beautiful leather case design. Still in shock over their BONE HEAD decision!
Thanks so much for this video. This needed to be said. The position of the cutouts is particularly problematic for left-handers like myself. I’ll be sticking with the Apple Silicone until capacitive covers become time-tested on third-party cases. Cases with cutouts are an immediate no-go.
That cutout is really the reason I am not buying the Mous this year, I love their cases for years and its always the first I buy since the 10. Picking up my 16PM this Friday will see which one I pick up....
You are speaking my mind. I was thinking the same thing! The cutouts are ridiculous, and I'm sure the feel will not be great. The average of $50- $60 these companies are charging does not justify their efforts for this year. And thank you for holding Pitaka and Mous accountable and calling them out on it. I bought the Mous Limitless 6.0 for my new iPhone 16 Pro Max, but honestly, I'm expecting Mous to either offer a replacement when the do it right or at least provide a significant discount for next year when they decide to properly design it like Apple did with their silicon cases. They charge WAY too much for this.. Again, thanks for calling them out.
I wouldn't say I like the cutout, but I think the Caudabe cutout looks okay. I will give the Synthesis a try since the plastic around the edges is usually pretty rigid, so hopefully, the cutout section is not too loose.
I prefer the cutout. I do a lot of mountain biking and my phone bar mount continuously presses the camera button when using the apple silicone case or going careless while trying to record videos in action mode. this definitely will solve that issue, just ordered an otterbox!
That gigantic cutout on the Mous case looks hideous lol. I definitely love how Supcase approached the camera control cutout. Just ordered one! Hopefully it works well! I bought 2 other cases from Smartish & ESR. They both used the beveled edge cutouts which are ok but I definitely prefer it to be covered
The gigantic cut out is such a turn off. I’ve seen some great cases I want but didn’t buy them because of the cut out. I want a button!! Hopefully it’s like the 15 pro situation where some third case manufacturers fixed their cut out for the action button.
It’s not the same as the action button the action button has no tactile feedback so very easy to solve that will a button this camera button is completely different it can’t just be a plastic button it has to be a special button no case manufacturers are going to spend that kind of money doing that

That large cutout is a total deal breaker! It’s ugly as hell and extremely bad for the safety of the phone. Better rocking the phone naked than with one of those atrocities called a case.
Don't get a cutout. I have the 16 pro and it's really not comfortable. It works but I feel like I need to push my finger in the cutout to get to the button and then keep it there to slide around or apply pressure on the button. I am going for an apple case now.
I honestly prefer the cutout design with Pitaka and Mous. I have a Pitaka case for my iPhone 15 Pro. I love that I can have direct contact with the phone's buttons the way the designers intended. I didn't like the idea of not enjoying the natural titanium look of my phone by immediately slapping it into the case. The case has saved my phone from light drops. May not be for everyone though.
Thanks I appreciate it and that’s what this video was about, just having the conversation around this topic for sure. Love reading the comments on a video like this.
I’m a Mous fan but the cut out for the camera button looks like an afterthought. They could have done it a little more subtle or a little more refined but instead it looks cheap even though it’s so expensive. I bought it but I don’t think I will keep it.
Not only that but they made the case thinner by 25% I think they say. I think they are just getting cheaper while making their cases more expensive. I loved their cases in the past but I think it’s time for me to move on because their cases are so expensive for what you get when there are other cases out there.
I hate cut outs on cases. That’s why I’ve refused to use several of Apple’s on cases in the past. I’ll be passing in the iPhone 16. As you said nobody asked for this.
Spigen has one with the camera control as well in more protective case than the apple silicone. I’m still a little torn which one I’m going to get. I have a feeling the 3rd party cases with the camera control button covered are probably going to have some problems. That said I also could not care less about the button. I’d rather have a case that covered over the button than one like Mous.
I’m definitely defaulting to the Apple silicon case (lake green). Hopefully by the time that one inevitably starts to wear down, these third party companies will have figured out how to implement a similar solution that button on the side instead of a cutout
I just used mous case with 16 pro, did grip testing on my channel. The mous did the right thing because it leaves enough space for even the fattest fingers to do gestures and swiping. Having small gap for screen side is awesome. The small capacity button with dots isn’t going to be as responsive nor as durable.
I have an iPhone 16 Pro. I tried two different cases, and found that the smaller size cutouts made operation of the camera control button flakey and unreliable for any function other than just opening the app, and taking a photo. I never used Apple cases in the past because their price, but I think this is definitely the best solution.
These case companies need to get it together! Nomad is my go-to for my phone cases and they went the cut-out route, so I won't be purchasing from them this year unless they make an updated version.
I got my Spigen Tough Armor in for my 16 Pro yesterday and the first thing I noticed was how incredibly thin that part is. I actually think the cutout feels perfect to me in the hand, but I do question if that thin piece of material will wear over time and if that's something case manufacturers are concerned about.
That camera button is the biggest reason I am not getting a 16 series phone. Going to keep rocking my 14 Pro until they finally come out with something worth replacing it with.
Thanks for your honest advice on all subjects. I keep coming back to you for advice on all comments. You are simply the best! Really appreciate your advice and recommendations. No bs!
I think you're calling this one correctly. Ordered a Mujjo and the cutout is a small oval with a steep bevel. No one over five years old is going to be able to get their finger onto the camera control button. The massive cutouts avoid that, but sacrifice a lot (dirt/dust entry, and some drop protection). I hate the silicone cases but the glass window is certainly the best answer.
Spigen also has an ultra hybrid with a covered capture button. I wonder how that will compare to Apple/Supcase. Also the Otterbox Lumen has a covered button and from the pics, it seems like just a super thin piece of material, but covered none the less. And then there’s cases with a super tiny cutout that’s literally just the pill shape of the button itself exposed, IE the Otterbox Figura. It’ll be interesting to see how they all play out
I received my Otterbox Defender for my 16 Pro Max and let me just say that cutout is GIGANTIC! I was so disappointed bc I do not think it would be that bad. It’s worse than these.
I originally ordered the Mous, but totally agree the gap for the control button is way too big and creates a real weak spot. I’ve already requested a return for the product and will buy the Apple case until something better comes out
Everyone is complaining on Mous’s iPhone 16 release video. Doesn’t sound like they’re changing anything based on what they’ve said in the comments (until everyone starts returning lol)
With all those cutouts on the Pitaka, they better cut the price too. They aren’t cheap and with that many cut outs they ain’t giving you much for your money 😂
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Apple’s first party case accommodates that capture button so seamlessly. Any case that has a cutout just feels like a compromise now.
Ha! Classic _Trell!_ *...ALWAYS sending a dang text 'n getting notifications in the way right during the middle of shooting videos!* 😂 *_*slaps knee*_*
I saw on one of Spigen's social media that they seems to have a button for one of their cases and they did confirm that it's coming soon. But meanwhile I'm prolly gonna stick to the Apple silicone case for now.
I really, really wanted to rock with Mous again this year. But I just can’t deal with that cutout. Seems like they just phoned it in this year and for the price they charge, I just can’t. I ended up going with that same color Apple case that you have
GREAT video idea/concept. This is why I said to myself that my first case will be an apple case until manufacturers figure out what works best for this camera button
Thank you for making this. It is so hard to really see what these cases are going to look like in the pictures on amazon. Video is so much better. I'm to the point that I might have to buy multiple of these and just return the ones I don't want. Wish we could see the Tech21 and Otterbox cases early like this. You'd think that Otterbox would recognize that..maybe they're not allowed.
I had finally landed on Mous last cycle and have been very happy with it, but they will need to integrate a button cover or at least maintain some sense of frame coverage for me to use them again with the 16 series. I get that 3rd party manufacturers have limited (if any) access to designs ahead of time to prevent leaks, but I think many of these cases will need V2's.
I like the way they made the apple case the most because it just looks smooth and flat but I am not fond of those, my IPhone 14 apple case tore up in little under 3 weeks and I am not rough on my phone. 😔
This reminds me of the issue we had with the early cases released for the iPhone 15 Pros, where there was a cutout for the action button. Anyway, I think Apple's solution is the cleanest followed by Supcase and then the others. I already have my black/clear Supcase case and hope that the capacitive camera control button has a quick and accurate response. Of course, this is a non-issue for those cases which do not have side protection, such as the Phone Rebel Flex series.
I ordered the Casetify Ultra Bounce for my 16 Pro Max. I can’t find a better case that provides more protection than that. It is definitely big and bulky but worth protecting such a beautiful and expensive device
If Pitaka don’t put a conductive button on the MagEZ Pro imma have to get the Apple Silicone case…. I can’t do the cutout now I know there’s a better way!
I preordered the sheath and honestly after finding out a button is possible I'm a bit pissed now. Why should early backers get a worse produict. I hope they come out with new versions and offer an atleast 50% discount to those who bought a version with a hole inside...
I don't understand why more case companies didn't go the Apple route and put a crystal button over it, it just seems lazy to go the way of "let's just take a chunk out of the case". I think the case I'm leaning toward is the bullstrap contemporary case
@@TechnicallyTee I'm assuming they didn't have the actual iPhone units in hand to actually test it out. imagine they produce an entire line of products and find out they don't work that well, that's like the whole action button situation but worse. Apple obviously are gonna make the best version of it cuz its their own phone.
Damn. I think I might be all-in on that Apple one! Had no interest in their silicone case, but that slider ceramic thingy is a must-have for protecting my new phone.
I had an Xperia in the past with a camera button. In mi opinion it’s not necessary, but it’s nice to have a camera shortcut. I’ll let the other buttons be used for something else.
Capacitive button or ceramic glass button is the way to go, just spend a bunch of money on cases I am going to check out but from the sounds of it. They probably arent going to make the cut.
Looks like the phone rebel flex with its open sides is finally coming into functional use now. With apple’s titanium sides it will be pretty scratch proof too (for the most part).
Thanks so much for your clear and concise explanations! Sorry you have to dumb it down for some of us, but my last iphone was the XR, so that should tell you something! Love your delivery, and you just got another subscriber!
Makes sense, they can't test and guarantee how well it works with the button. So just cutting it out until they can get their hands on a phone to figure out the best way to do it is the smart decision.
I’m gonna go with either the Apple or Subcase for my phone as soon as I get it. I haven’t upgraded my phone from the 12 pro max for a while so it’s gonna be a major upgrade with the new features
I have a beveled cutout, and I feel like cutting off the ridge. The bevel digs into my finger, and I have to press obscenely hard just to trigger the camera button. The best option is a capacitive button; I’ll wait until the budget Amazon Chinesium brands make one.
So I don’t enjoy the camera control button and decided it’s best to disable it in settings. I got an Otterbox Defender and the cutout is huge! It’s just so uncomfortable and leaves a lot of the side of the phone exposed. See for me it’s a double edge sword. I actually don’t like MagSafe. The idea of it is great but I work in road construction painting lines on the road… we do a lot of fabricating, building and repairs on our equipment. There is a lot of metal fragments/dust and magnets attract it. I’m my industry we use small glass beads on the road markings to make them reflective. Those beads get into the case and scratch up the glass/frame even inside the case. The magnets adding metal dust into the mix is just not something I need. Usually Otterbox makes and sells iPhone cases without MagSafe but they don’t seemingly offer this for the 16 series. Basically I want an Otterbox Defender case without any cutout for the camera control button and no MagSafe magnets in the case. I am extremely doubtful they would ever make a case without a cutout for the Camera Control button… but definitely need one without MagSafe.
Damn the case companies taking two big hits in a row. Last year with the action button redesigns and this year with the capture button. I think a lot more of the PR Flex, Arc Pulse and Suti style cases gonna sell this year.
I think the Mous super thin 2.0 cases will do well with the new capture button. Considering it is 15% thinner this year. It gives more protection as the Pitaka however it gives the ability to use the buttons naturally. Can you test these out sometime?
I absolutely hate the way some of these case companies are designing the cases for the 16 line. Like why does otterbox have that massive cut out for the camera button?? Aren’t they supposed to be a more protective case company 😭 it looks lazy as heck, I hate it.

I will definitely buy the Apple silicone case I type a lot with my hand lower on the phone and I feel like that cut out will drive me nuts.
Feel like our hands will hit that button a lot just holding the phone. I’m surprised Apple put a button where you hold the phone. Great video man.
Thanks for your honest advice on all subjects. I keep coming back to you for advice on all comments. You are simply the best! Really appreciate your advice and recommendations. No bs!
Phone rebel flex case will probably be the best case to buy this year no cutouts for the sides well done Philip you will do extremely well this year.
Mous cases are excellent. However on this occasion the limitless 6.0 has missed the mark. Disappointing !
Agreed 💯 there needs to be a button. Spigen has one case with the camera control button as well.
A LOT of people asked for a camera button but making it a Force Touch button complicates things
Yeah pretty much everyone I know who uses their iPhone as their main camera wanted this. What people are you talking to?!?
@@unwrapdontiktok2256 thats what I said lol
Literally nobody asked for a camera button..
@@codoflife6115 I did
@@codoflife6115 Source: "I made it up"
I think you're calling this one correctly.
Some of these cut outs look as if Mike Tyson took a bite out of them..😅
Spigen also has an ultra hybrid with a covered capture button.
I’ve already requested a return for the product and will buy the Apple case until something better comes out
You and everyone else on the planet
Just bought shares in Apple make me money Apple.
Everyone is complaining on Mous’s iPhone 16 release video. Doesn’t sound like they’re changing anything based on what they’ve said in the comments (until everyone starts returning lol)
@@BeamCrasherNG where can I watch the video
With all those cutouts on the Pitaka, they better cut the price too. They aren’t cheap and with that many cut outs they ain’t giving you much for your money 😂
Lmmmmaooooooooo! This really made me laugh out loud at work 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Apple’s first party case accommodates that capture button so seamlessly. Any case that has a cutout just feels like a compromise now.
Ha! Classic _Trell!_ *...ALWAYS sending a dang text 'n getting notifications in the way right during the middle of shooting videos!*
😂 *_*slaps knee*_*
I saw on one of Spigen's social media that they seems to have a button for one of their cases and they did confirm that it's coming soon. But meanwhile I'm prolly gonna stick to the Apple silicone case for now.
I really, really wanted to rock with Mous again this year. But I just can’t deal with that cutout. Seems like they just phoned it in this year and for the price they charge, I just can’t.
I ended up going with that same color Apple case that you have
GREAT video idea/concept. This is why I said to myself that my first case will be an apple case until manufacturers figure out what works best for this camera button
The best option is the supcase , the 2nd is the spigen it’s not bad but the mous and pitaka is outrageous
Yeahhhhhhhh it’s going to be interesting to see how they are once the phone gets here.
@@TechnicallyTee I feel like a lot of companies are gonna lost money but you right we’ll see
@@BigDon._jr is it though? We won’t have the phones yet and it’s using a copper button and not the sapphire like Apple. Curious how it’s gonna work.
@@Mr_I_Got_One_Of_Those yeah I ordered 1 of each actually the supcase and spigen so can’t wait to test it out
If Mous wants to keep charging $70 for a basic case then they need to revamp that camera button to be more similar to the Apple brand case
Some case manufacturers have the crystal piece for the camera control already (more on the way of course), Apple’s silicone case is nice af lol
You literally blew my mind with this video, so 100% correct! Lazy case makers just not covering that button.
I like the way they made the apple case the most because it just looks smooth and flat but I am not fond of those, my IPhone 14 apple case tore up in little under 3 weeks and I am not rough on my phone. 😔
Otterbox has the right idea with their lumen case as well, they just use a button that sits directly on top of the camera control instead of a cutout.
Never heard about SupCase, think is a good choice? Or spigen ultra hybrid T case is a better one?
I am also curious
Does the camera bump is on the same size as the 15 pro max or it got a little bigger??
I had to do me check but yes he calls the ultramarine colour on the Apple case ‘Submarine’ not even disappointed, I enjoyed the chuckle
I wanna ask about supcase i am worried it might scratch the camera button since it has a dots??
This reminds me of the issue we had with the early cases released for the iPhone 15 Pros, where there was a cutout for the action button. Anyway, I think Apple's solution is the cleanest followed by Supcase and then the others. I already have my black/clear Supcase case and hope that the capacitive camera control button has a quick and accurate response. Of course, this is a non-issue for those cases which do not have side protection, such as the Phone Rebel Flex series.
This was going to be the first year I try mous till I seen that cut out
I ordered the Casetify Ultra Bounce for my 16 Pro Max. I can’t find a better case that provides more protection than that. It is definitely big and bulky but worth protecting such a beautiful and expensive device
If Pitaka don’t put a conductive button on the MagEZ Pro imma have to get the Apple Silicone case…. I can’t do the cutout now I know there’s a better way!
apple should have made a desert/brown case
Going Apple. All gigantic cutouts = Fail
Same. Hopefully these third party case providers fix that and add a button.
💯, cutouts would be hard to live with
I preordered the sheath and honestly after finding out a button is possible I'm a bit pissed now. Why should early backers get a worse produict.
I hope they come out with new versions and offer an atleast 50% discount to those who bought a version with a hole inside...
I really wanted the camera button. We’ll see if the situation improves on the case side of things.
Nobody does case videos like Tee!
I appreciate it bro. 💪🏽💪🏽
I don't understand why more case companies didn't go the Apple route and put a crystal button over it, it just seems lazy to go the way of "let's just take a chunk out of the case". I think the case I'm leaning toward is the bullstrap contemporary case
Had convo with a few brands and I now understand why they didn’t go that route. Might make a follow up video explaining it.
@@TechnicallyTeePlease make that follow up video.
Damn. I think I might be all-in on that Apple one! Had no interest in their silicone case, but that slider ceramic thingy is a must-have for protecting my new phone.
So I didn't know I need this channel in my life.. until now.
Should I trade in from regular 14 Pro with 87% bh from February 2023 to 16 Pro Max or wait for the 17 Pro Max?
how come apple cases has a button there will it work as touch like zooming in zooming out ?
As soon as I saw how that button worked the first thing I thought about was what tee thought about it as far as cases go.
Damn the case companies taking two big hits in a row. Last year with the action button redesigns and this year with the capture button. I think a lot more of the PR Flex, Arc Pulse and Suti style cases gonna sell this year.
Bought the Supcase and started the return on my Spigen case after watching this 😅
Same
It's unfortunate that the Mous Limitless 6.0 has this issue for the high price, it's top tier in every other aspect
