      Great to hear, I’m the same & even after a 22 year career as a British Army JTAC I still love this stuff, maybe it might’ve had something to do with the relief felt by all when we managed to get top cover when in a sticky situation on the various tours I’ve done. What did you use to do if you don’t mind me asking? Greetings from across the pond in snowy cold England 🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 👍🏻🇺🇸

I think I heard a few visual call outs & that was the first inkling that I knew you had company, it’s hard to tell when I’m watching this on my phone with earbuds on the tube, I’m now out of the Army & doing my boring commute home, also I’m a bit of a watch nerd, do you have a Suunto? What really gets us mere landbound mortals about these drivers is that they're so damned casual about it. There they are, flying a sophisticated multi-million dollar machine, one of the most amazing vehicles on the planet, and it's like it's no big deal; just another day at the office. "Hey, Honey, do you need me to pick up some milk at the store on the way home?" Then you get up and do it all over again tomorrow, ho-hum. It reminds me of Crocodile Dundee, when his girlfriend warns him, "Be careful, Mick, this is not a game!" He looks at her and says, "It is to me."

    I saw the other video where it was just the over the shoulder shot first. it didn't don on me that Lightning was an actual Lightning for some reason. That's cool to see one in formation like that. You can even see the reflectors on his wings if you look hard enough (Radar reflectors for the unaware. The F-35's actual radar cross-section is classified, so it flies with reflectors to increase it's size in radar). That is really close in a few spots.

    I didn't realize how much the front stabilizers are flaps at the front of the wing whatever they call them move I thought they were just for landing. Does that have an automatically or does he manually toggling that

    • @SogenOkami
      @SogenOkami 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Everything is automatic. The pilot tells the plane what to do and the flight computer figures it out.

    • @uwekonnigsstaddt524
      @uwekonnigsstaddt524 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The F-16 is a “fly-by-wire” airplane; it uses “relaxed static stability”, engineer’s speak for “the aircraft has been destabilized on purpose to make it more maneuverable than a conventional aircraft”. When the F-16 is on the ground on its wheels, the leading edge augmenting devices are programmed to stay at -7 degrees, once the aircraft is accelerated and the nose wheel leaves the ground, the computer automatically moves the leading edge flaps into the down position to increase the lift vector. When the pilots pulls into a tight maneuver, the computers moves them to the optimal angle according with speed/angle of attack, elevator input, etc. F-16 pilots say the computer flies the jet, they just input control. The vertical stabilizer constantly moves to keep the aircraft under control. It has quad redundant system to control it. It is impossible for the pilot to control it without the computers. It is the product of Colonel Boyd and a mathematics professor that develop what is called “Energy Maneuvering Theory”.

      @artcoruk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @G E T R E K T he's actually correct. F16 was design to be unstable and has the FLCS (Flight Control System) that protects the jet from crashing should the pilot get carried away. Without FLCS it would be veeery difficult to pilot this plane if not impossible.
