      I live in Winnipeg in Canada. Ukrainian writing is all over the city, particularly the north end. We have a credit union called Carpathian Credit Union whose signs are bilingual English/Ukrainian. The Ukrainian Labour Temple in Winnipeg played a huge part of our labour history and was the site of organization of the famous Winnipeg General Strike. Winnipeg has a very special relationship with Ukraine.

    12:50 It is kind of a misnomer to refer to Muscovite society as "feudal", this is something that later Soviet historians retroactively inserted into Russian history to make it more comparable with Marxist history of Western Europe and Marx himself was highly critical of inserting feudalism into Russian history. The system was oppressive, but very different.

      @@onecko1124 fair enough, I wasn't making any statement on the exact historical impact or it's magnitude since (although I have Jewish Ukrainian ancestry) I am not completely familiar with the inner workings of Ukrainian cultural formation. Ukrainian Jew here. The point about Russian Israelis is completely wrong. Russification has nothing to do with it. The background is that after the collapse of the Soviet Union many people emigrated, including many Jews. This was hardly or not at all possible before. Many Jews went to the USA or to Europe, but many others went to Israel. But those see themselves only second as Russians, first they are Jews.
    The reason why Israel has so many Russian-speaking inhabitants today is simply that many Jews were murdered or fled by the Nazis in Europe. This did not happen in the former Soviet Union. Stalin also had plans for the deportation of Jews, but died before he could implement them. That is why there was such a large migration movement to Israel after the opening of the borders in the early 90s.

    Bakunin was both a self-described Anarchist and a self-described nationalist. He believed oppressed peoples like poles, the Irish, and Ukrainians had a right to declare independence and throw off the shackles of imperialism and colonialism. He would prefer that those governments then move towards anarchism but one step at a time.
    Most anarchist today are internationalist or they would rather cram every anarchist community into a globalist/international project. But Bakunin realized that if you want to give power down to the local level then you are necessarily not a globalist or an internationalist.

      @@onecko1124 Marxism really polluted and corrupted Anarchism. Very often Anarchists get dragged into supporting communism, under the guise of 'anarcho-communism' but b/c communism is built on a litany of false assumptions (namely Hegelian dialectics) it always collapses into a ruthless, totalitarian state. Anarchists get tricked by Tankies and typically end up some of the first people to get killed in the power consolidation phase. Time and time again we see the same cycle occur with 'revolutions' but some idiots somewhere else just say "well REAL communism has never been tried". Yup, and no ones ever ridden a real unicorn either. Fantasy land logic used by deceitful tyrants. It's a horrid shame that legitimate Anarchist schools of thought are so bogged down in those lurid, twisted lies.

      @@RavignonCh Ah, cool! I've been binge-watching the guy. I want to discuss a free non-usury/commodity currency I have developed to incentivise creating sustainably. Yes, this sounds cheesy like I am selling a crypto, but this misses the point. So hard to suggest something different, to then get 'is it a crypto' and all the sht that comes with that.
      Anyway, the insight is really amazing. he easily illustrates the crap politics and religions are sold WITH usury money. Blows my mind that people follow this usury sht.
      It's great he has so much exposure with almost half a million subscribers. It's perplexing that PewDiePie has 111M! Incomprehensible. People use be so lonely to want to watch someone like that.
      Best of luck with your channel!

    Nice video, but why do you say ''libertarian communist'' don't you mean libertarian socialist?

    • @RavignonCh
      @RavignonCh  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I am using a historical term ^^ libertarian communism is a broad brush that back then could be used interchangeably with syndicalists, anarchists and agrarianists. You can find this term in a lot of books discussing this period, as in the XIX century communism and socialism were used interchangeably -- you can check for example someone like Joseph Déjacque who used "anti-authoritarian communism" to refer to something we could call anarchocommunism today.
      The differentiation became relevant as a way to distinguish people from the Sinosoviet types less than 100 years ago -- where communism very much had a "face" in certain countries and the Left Opposition sought for alternative names amidst the Red Scare and later liberalization.

    Most of the cities founded by the Russian empire are a myth. There already existed cities, they were simply renamed. For example, salt from the Middle Ages was mined on the site of Odessa, and in the 15th century a fortress and a port were built.
    Mariuopol was the port-fort of Domakh on the Kalmius River and on the coast of the Sea of Azva in the 16th century.
    5 centuries have passed and the fort is still working against the barbarians.
    Keterinoslav it New Kodak.

      Well Mahkno was mostly just a military leader, the actual running of the political/economic system was actually done by workers councils, which seemed to work fine for a society organized into agricultural communes. I doubt the system would have been able to extend to an industrial society

    Do you think that liberals (philosophical sense) and anarchist are more natural Allies than anarchists and communists?

    • @Lusa_Iceheart
      @Lusa_Iceheart 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Communism requires a state, a really really big state that typically needs to kill all the people who disagree with communism before it can even begin with it's Marxist project. Classical Liberalism, Libertarianism and similar schools of thought are more on the Anarchism side of the spectrum.
      You've probably seen the Political Compass graph. Anarchism would be basically the bottom most line, no state what so ever. Libertarianism is just a notch above that but on the right side of the economics line where as communism is SUPPOSEDLY a notch above but on the left side of economics. Communism in practice is always totalitarian so ends up much, much further away.
      Anarchism as a general term is pretty damn broad, there's LOTS of sub categories and flavors. Anarcho-communism is a popular one online (as sorta a rebuff of the totalitarian nightmares Communism in practice produces) but realistically it's just a restatement of the original Marxist thought that spawned Leninism and would slam right into the same walls that required totalitarianism to accomplish. Have to kill everyone who doesn't agree with you to get your perfect little utopia. Anarcho-capitalism is sometimes portrayed in media as the sci-fi Cyberpunk corpo-fascist state, but that's just a bastardized misrepresentation for the most part. Such sci-fi Megacorps would inherently be the government and the system would therefore by definition not be anarchism b/c of the presence of a state. Medieval Iceland had a bizarre system where there was no lords or kings but lots of little mercenary outfits that would compete for the role of a more traditional feudal baron or lord. Worked out to be very effective at maintaining the normal government role of monopoly of force (without being a monopoly) while being entirely voluntary and bound to the needs of the clients (the citizens). The system broke down when the whole Christianization stuff swept across Iceland and centuries of norms (and the Pagan religion) went out the window. Now if you were to ask an Anarcho-communist what they thought of Anarcho-capitalism, they'd call it not real anarchism whereas many anarchists think that anarcho-communism is flat out an oxymoron. Not surprising tho since Anarchists can't ever agree with each other over how to define 'Anarchism' let alone flesh out the internal divisions.
      To be quite honest, Communism is closer to Fascism, in fact Fascism is basically just nationalistic Communism whereas Communism in it's idealized form is a Globalist ideology. That in turn is part of why Communism never works as advertised, it's never a global revolution and the revolutionary party is very rarely the ideology of the majority of a population. So the whole experiment is doomed from the start and the people are left with nothing but a despotic nightmare regime that just pays lip-service to 'the workers'. Beyond small scale, fully voluntary communes of diehard believers, it always implodes. Even in those cases they have the awful track record of devolving into cults of personality and de facto dictatorships.
      The lovely thing about Libertarian and Classical Liberal systems is a group is perfectly free to set up their own commune internally and have at it. No other systems outside of the bottom right quadrant is exactly tolerant of a competing systems existing within the larger system. The bottom right quadrant is primarily concerned with letting people do what they please and only really objecting when conflict between two parties arises. The idealized Liberal Constitutional Democratic-Republic the US attempts to refine, and as of recent years attempts to salvage would fall under this 'Classical Liberal' camp.
      Anyway, I hope this long, somewhat tangential comment sums up why classical liberalism is a better ally to anarchy than communism. I'm looking forward to all the hateful comments in response to this, lol.

      liberals left their ideals of liberalism behind in faovur of capitalims and facism through neoliberalism and the idea that neoliberalism is immortal, as that will lead to facism

    • @jtt8237
      @jtt8237 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly not. Anarchists *are* communists. Simply not statist or Marxist ones. Essentially the same goal with a radically different approach. Liberals in both the philosophical and modern political sense have a reduced understanding of liberty and value property and domination.
