Yes, read and loved the book, 'Empire of Their Own,' a fascinating overview of the founding Jews, their respective backgrounds and amazing tidbits re: the founding of their companies and the shenanigans that were occurring back then. At Columbia, I took the last class with Samson Raphaelson (before he passed away), and it was great hearing his tales about early Hollywood and his writing of the first talkie, 'The Jazz Singer,' starring Al Jolson. If you saw 'Cinema Paradiso,' one of my favorite Italian films, you will remember how the town's priest viewed each film prior to showing, and how the projectionist had to splice out the kissing scenes. A pity that Hollywood can't remember how to make great original movies nowadays, and a pity that I had to walk away from 'the biz' in early 2,000, but it was the right decision to save my marriage and family. God speed~

I once wrote a book called “Hollywood Utopia” which covers the silent era. That period was quite remarkable- and by 1925 ripe for the Hays Code.
Thanks so much, Patrick

Irony-Mary Tyler Moore was baptized and raised Catholic, but fell away. Great recent article in EMJ’s Culture Wars.
When you mention a book could you please put it in the notes?
Neil Gabler, 'Empire of Their Own,' simply fascinating, enjoy!
Fascinating…..
