  • Low tunnel row cover or "greenhouse" hoops can help extend your gardening season by enabling earlier planting in the spring and later harvests in the fall. PVC hoops are quick and easy but not as long lasting as those made from electrical conduit which are just as easy to make and will last for years!
I bought the bender from www.johnnyseeds... when it went on sale which occurs periodically. I bought the conduit at Home Depot and Lowes for $2.22 a stick in lots of 10.
Snap clamps for 1/2 EMT to hold agribon on amzn.to/2zWnA8A
    Agribon-15 (9' 10" x15) amzn.to/2hLMzqx other sizes also available.

I'm so glad I stumbled across this vid. I had no idea tube benders even existed. I'll be looking into this and whatever the cost, it's sure to be a good investment. Will be following your links - hope you got them monetized !! Thanks for the clear instructions, will be checking out the rest of them. Lily

I made the mistake of using PVC when I built my greenhouse. Unfortunately I didn't know at the time that PVC did not hold it's shape well at temperatures above 95-100 deg F. It also off-gasses chlorine when heated and has destroyed the polyethylene film in the greenhouse a couple of times. I really need to invest in a tube bender and build it the right way. Nice video :)

Yes pvc has limited life and not immune to uv rays. We just built a 40' shadehouse with pvc and once we determine the setup is good we'll bend chain link fence top rail posts instead. Thank you for your insight and support!

I just watched your video and the greenhouse looks amazing! I really like what your did with the floor via wood chips and ground cover material. PVC hoop houses are a great investment and work well if they are not exposed to excessive temperatures for long periods of time. The summers down here in socal have been brutal the last few years with external temps of 110+. I definitely need to buy a tube bender for sure :)

Thanks you and glad you found the video helpful. The shadehouse has been filling our need and the ease and cost of building it is so worth it. We are thinking about building an identical one right next to it until we are ready for something more permanent. So far the wood chips under the ground cloth seems to be working as expected. :)

I framed my pvc hoop house with wood...held under canadian snow load. I also put duct tape over pvc on outer surface where it contacts plastic. No issues yet. Ultimately, fence rail is the next step up for rigidity and longevity for more money of course.

Good Day! Thank you for making this video. I am also planning to set up a tunnel greenhouse in my garden,, may I know the measurement of your bender please? Thanks a lot!

You can make one from wood and clamp it down.

Great video, thanks for sharing! Did I miss how you created the "slot" for the pipe to insert into on the pipe bender? What is that made of and how did you attach it. Thanks again, very helpful!

There is a loop manufactured in the pipe bender to hold the pipe...I have done no modifications to it

Shame cheep domestic steel conduit is not available in Australia.

Yep that is a shame. Can't you get it shipped in?

    • @coen555
      @coen555 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

In my experience Us to Aus shipping runs at $20 a pound minimum. Not practical for steel piping. I might buy a length of steel plumbing pipe from the hard wear store and see how that bends.

Yes I see how the cost is absurd. Sounds like PVC might be your best bet and they work good just not as long lasting. Good luck with the project!

Well pvc conduit is readily available, however black poly irrigation pipe is more commonly used. I went to bunnings today and found 3 meter lengths of steel water pipe for $10. Pricey but would work really well.
