Gwadar or Godar means "Place by then water" in Padhto and Gwadar-khwa or Godar-khwa (land of the place by then water) which is the Bactrian or old Pakhto name of Balochistan. It is from this word that the Greeks called Balochistan "Gedrosia" which comes from Godarkhwa.
