    Love this rag to richest stories. Greg is a great guy. My life story is very similar. Dropped out of college. Lived in my car. I grew a multinational coffee company by being one of the first on the web in 1995. Great interview Pete. Looking forward to more.

    Excellent interview. I have a small and very successful business with my incredibly talented wife. We started 4 yrs ago in a city with no customers and now possibly n.o 1 in our sector. What he said about staff is so true. As a leader I've had to learn the hard way. Mistakes we made was not paying enough to the staff and bonuses. They saw us making a lot of money but we didnt pass it on. Now we pay big salaries and bonuses. We treat the staff like family. But still have issues recruiting thai staff in our city. We have really high standards. They will try one month with us and realise its easier to work for a business competitor than us because the standards are lower. Easier job for them and less strict. Overall the work ethic is really poor in this country. I never thought about recruiting Philippinno . Its a good idea. Overall staff are our biggest nightmare....

    The Subway is not so popular in the States these days due to the ingredients. Preservatives in too many things; nitrates in the meats; mercury in the tuna. Lots of vegetarians in the U.S. now, anyway. There was almost no Mexican food in Thailand in the 80's and early 1990's. There was an American with his Thai wife running "Gordito's" in the soi across from Bangkok Bank headquarters on Silom Road. It was pretty good, but expensive for the times compared to Thai food. Eventually a second small Mex food place opened in a back soi off of Sukhumvit Road; I'm guessing from memory somewhere around Soi 8 or so. It was not crowded when I tried it, only once, and not too good. I never went back.

    • @ThairishTimes

      Not 100% sure off hand but the rules are slightly different for Americans

    • @davidb2206
      @davidb2206 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ThairishTimes It's called the Treaty of Amity. It allows an American to own 100% shareholding of a company. Lots of special paperwork. You definitely have to pay a Thai law office to do it. I had one before. It does NOT help with land or home ownership, however. No relation to that.

    This guy is a genius. Anyone that can make money from selling Mexican food made by Filipinos in a country where there are literally a million other food places with much better food which is served by much more talented people than his restaurant definitely deserves an award. He could probably sell ice to Eskimos.
