- A super easy DIY! I would strongly suggest getting a walking foot for this project because of how “slippery” Minky fabric is. This project only took me an hour and the result is the most luxurious buttery soft blanket. I’m so obsessed. Literally cuddling it as I type this video description. These blankets make AMAZING gifts and are customizable when you make them yourself. Would be great for any birthday, mothers/fathers day, Christmas, wedding, you name it!

I love minky blanket too. I have 2 of them from that company. And yes they are pricey so been researching how to make my own. Ha ha. So watching your video and deciding should i take the plunge. I know the fabric is pricey too. So i am nervous to mess it up.

What kind of sewing machine do you have... Or recommend?
I've never had one, but am thinking about getting one....
The biggest reason is for being able to take in or adjust (I don't know the correct term) my 4lb Morkie, Charlee's clothing, it's super hard finding clothing that fits her. She is super tiny. Because she is 10" long. I usually have to order a medium because the small's are usually only 8-9" long, but then there's always a huge amount of inches hanging to the floor! (Because she has a skinny girth) lol

I'm making my first minky blanket that's large! I'm wondering if I need to somehow tack it down in the middle. Do the toe pieces stay together if it's just sewn around the edge?

I have Minky or flannel material with a cotton material. I want to put the two together to make a double sided blanket. How do you keep them from sliding apart once they’re sewn together? Do you have to run a seam down the center of the blanket? Thank you for any replies.

With 2, two yard cuts, what was the blankets final dimensions? Is it approx Queen size or twin bed size?

Thank you! 😁 The finished blanket was pretty close to 5x6 ft.
The minky fabric I used is 60 inches wide and I had two, two yard cuts. Each of the pieces were 60 inches wide by 72 inches long. We use it more as a throw blanket, and it travels room to room because it’s used constantly!

Thats gorg! I have a nice sewing machine someone gave me brand new. Never wanted to use it till now lol I have purchased some very expensive minkys and would just like to make my own. I haven't sewn since 1991! I had to take a sewing class as an elective to have enough credits to graduate high school lol

I want to know how you closed the hole. That’s my biggest problem is I want to sew Mickey blankets but nobody has a tutorial on how to close the hole After you turn it right side out.
I pinned the hole together with the seam allowance folded in so it looked the same as the rest of the edge of the blanket. I then picked a thread that would blend in well and closed the hole with a regular straight across stitch, making sure to backstitch well on either end of the hole. You can’t tell at all where the hole was! I hope that helps!
