We paid for the lyric video before InVogue signed us, we feel it's a good way for fans to learn the lyrics and interpret the message in the way we'd prefer them to.

Rory said this himself here about a year ago... "I posted this from my personal twitter, I am not a Christian, and we all have different beliefs in the band. "...We all feel things, and we all have our own separate beliefs, each one of us in the band is incredibly spiritual and have a lot of connection and faith in a god and a greater purpose, just because it's not aligned with a set religion doesn't make it any less powerful...."
Trust. It makes full sense. Because you dont follow their God, doesnt mean you are wrong. Like you can't talk to the diety man names God. Rory is a gentleman and a scholar

10 years ago!!?? I can't believe that I never heard of Dayseeker until like a year or 2 ago. I could've had more good music to listen to when I was in high school
I remember they were another local band before they blew up. If you barely just found out about Dayseeker. Go check out Silent Planet and Phineas. I’m glad I seen them before they blew up on got on a label. I’m still bumping this in 2024!

God doesn't exist in any evident sense. And even if he did, *he* would be the one responsible for whatever anyone would need to be "saved from". In this context he's *partially rescuing* people from a hell he created (most people are not Christian). That's like starting a house fire with 10 people inside, saving 3-4 of them and calling yourself a savior. Utter and complete absurdity.

I'm a deconverted christian, an atheist now, and I wish I could've discovered these guys while I was still a Christian. I know I would've really appreciated it. I love it now, I even got chills, cause I know how powerful this is. Great song, I love it, and religion doesn't matter when it comes to good musicality, a good message, and good writing.

Man! Whether its my interpretation or not this song is inspiring! What gets me is that most songs you hear are from the position that when things are tough and bad things are happening its proof that God does not exist or that he's malevolent, but what you have said is that no matter how bad things seem there is light at the end of the tunnel. God does not give us tests we cannot pass, which is so true. Either way, the song is amazing and not only inspired me as a human being, but as a musician.
OK people, Christian or not, this song is powerful and as a Christian spoke to me. Not feeling good enough, failing God all the time, this song has so much truth and honesty in it. Wish more Christians would admit their shortcomings and stop being 'white washed tombs' as Jesus said.

My friend's teacher got mad for listening to Dayseeker in school (it's a Christian private school). But this is the song that explains how God gave up his one son for all of us despite how we truly are. It's truly what I would call a masterpiece.

When listening to music, I try to find as many ways possible to identify with the artist and the meaning behind the song being portrayed. It's much more meaningful that way and causes me to hold an extreme amount of value for music that I enjoy. Perhaps I interpreted your original comment incorrectly. Really deep lyrics that you can relate to very talented vocalist and one of the best songs for a very long time
This song really makes me wonder what has happened or is happening in the vocalist's life spiritually. He obviously has some sort of christian background, because he uses phrases like "carry the cross" that are unique to christianity. My prayer for him is that he would begin to understand grace, that even though he may feel like he doesn't deserve anything, God sees him as someone extremely valuable and wanted.

I don't know if Rory even wrote this, but yeah, perhaps he had some sort of Christian background in his past. He's made it pretty clear he's not a Christian now, but in the one video, it sounds to me like Rory may have not even written this song. Perhaps, perhaps not. I don't know, I don't own the album yet, so I can't check to see who wrote this.
You don't need to be christian to write phrases like that. I've used that in many of my songs and i am everything but a believer. Neither do you have to be a believer to use or talk about the concept of a god in lyrics.
I understand that, but it's the last bit that particularly sounds like it comes from a Christian background. "Carry the cross until your bones break / It's never too late to change". The rest of it sounds like it could just come from a deist.

MMF makes me think of Dayseeker. Probably not technically considered a "Christian" band, but has Christian themes in the lyrics. And really all they do is use it as a way to make music, which is art. They make their art personalized. Truly amazing.
