Even the placebo effect of caffeine is enough. I have not exceeded 150 mg for 1 year. I enjoy drinking coffee before training and having a placebo is enough.

True. Also the cognitive effects are able to be achieved with very low doses, which can help with concentration in the gym 👍

Unrelated but do u have any opinion on German volume training and if it is superior to conventional training for hypertrophy? Personally I want to start it as I’ve lost some motivation in the weight room and want something to challenge me

GVT is basically just high volume training. Just add a few sets on-top of what you're currently doing, rather than going straight to 10x10 training 👍

@@FlowHighPerformance1 Thank you for the reply. The 10x10 seems pretty fun to me so I think after progressing towards the higher volume I'll give it a go. Love your page btw

I don't usually drink coffee but I got a cold and that itself makes me drawsy. So Ive been drinking coffee lately so I can work out. Other wise Id fall asleep at the gym (only until the cold goes away then i'll quit coffee.)

People seem to forget so easily that caffeine is a drug. Every drug has its side effects and ill-effects from continual use.

As a regular coffee drinker and an amateur lifter for more than 10 years, I can say coffee has made me fatter and hindered my muscle growth.
It made me fatter by giving me more hunger; don't be fooled, the hunger does not come right away but a few hours later.
Muscle feels like it doesn't want to grow when on caffeine. During training, it feels like the adrenaline is doing the job and not the muscle. It may feel that caffeine helps in recovery but actually is more like shutting down muscle adaptation.
You could say it helps with performing a workout but not getting bigger from that workout.
The only success I got with coffee was in the first year when I used it, I managed to lose fat fast along with a low calorie diet.

Very interesting. I have never heard of anyone else claim that coffee has contributed to weight gain and hindering muscle growth. Thanks for sharing your experiences 👍
