    I have saved this video because over the years, I have referred to it many times. I've added timers to the last house, now adding timers to the new house. These timers are awesome and the video is even more so. It is so precise with the instructions, it's almost impossible to screw up the programming! Thanks again!!!

    I read the instructions over and over, tried as hard as I could to program each step as instructed only to find that I had failed again. I watched this video, started and stoped the video many times and documented each step on a list. Bingo, on the first try, my timer was working just as I wanted.Thank you for such an excellent step by step video.

    Easy to follow instructions. You do probably need to add a description if you want to use a time other than dawn, for example we want ours to turn off at 11:00 pm because they are too bright. I think I set it correctly. We will find out in a few hours.

    Video is an improvement over just the written instructions. Having used the ST01 since introduced in 2009, I suggest these improvements:
    * improve legibility of LCD screen shot--even at 720p, characters are:
    ~~ barely large enough to read. Zoom into frame--no need to show trim plate
    ~~ blurry--improve camera focus
    ~~ low-contrast--possibly improved by optimizing camera angle
    * at 3:03--setting the dawn and dusk time seems nonsensical, given sunrise and sunset times vary over the year. It would be helpful to make clearer that the astronomic function varies them, apparently based on
    1) your initial setting
    2) the date you made that setting
    3) latitude, by choosing from the three lookup tables: North, Central, and South
    * If you want to vary the turn-on time a few minutes earlier or later than actual sunset, you can vary the dusk time setting--or at least this seems to be the way it operates.

    I was wondering about a timer with auto adjustment for dawn & dusk....

  • @EdwinKellogg
    @EdwinKellogg 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mostly it's all there. There is one unclear point. When you set the dawn or dusk time does it just stay at that setting all year or does the astro feature change it throughout the year? I live at the Eastern edge of my time zone and the built in dusk setting turns the lights on too late, so I could just set the time of day ahead to compensate for that. I'd also need to set my 11 pm turnoff time ahead by the same amount. If I knew the dusk time would get corrected by the astro feature I wouldn't have to advance the time of day and the 11 pm turnoff time.

    • @jonstamps3158
      @jonstamps3158 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You've probably already figured this out, but I'm pretty sure that when you set the dawn and dusk time in the initial programming for time and date, then those times will adjust throughout the year.

  • @bobneedham6224
    @bobneedham6224 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    If I understand it correctly, after you program Dusk/ON 01, then Dawn/OFF 02, you can press "+" and move to the 03 event. You then program a new OFF event, and then press "04 for a new ON event. In essence it turns ON at dusk, turns OFF at a specified time during the night (e.g. 11 PM) then turns ON (e.g. 1 AM). It also my understanding you can program each of the ON & OFF times separately for each day of the week with multiple ON/OFF cycles. Moreover, if you set the switch for random it will follow the program you entered but will vary the set times by + or - by 15 minutes? Is that right? Neither your written instructions or video covered that. I think my analysis is correct, but I just programmed it and I haven't had a chance to test it yet. It's a great device if it lets me do that.

    • @IntermaticIncorporated
      @IntermaticIncorporated  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The programming you want to do is perfect.
      We would typically do …
      01- Dusk on
      02- Dawn off
      03- 4:00am on
      04- 12:00pm off
      Either way will work just fine (we use that order because the defaults for the events are on, off, on, off……)
      Your assessment of the random feature is also correct.

      It's strange that Intermatic doesn't give you an easy answer in this posting...I'm thinking you could just set the "dawn" ("off" setting) 6 hours after your "Dusk" ("on" setting). This may leave you with a "dawn" setting at like 2am, but I'm thinking that it doesn't matter. I'm guessing it should still run for 6 hours. I'm again guessing that the "ON" or "Dusk" setting is the setting that gets adjusted as the sunrise/sunset times slowly change. I could be wrong, but I would try this to see how it goes.

    Once the dawn and dusk times are programmed in, will they adjust automatically from day to day since dawn and dusk varies from day to day? If not, what, if any, is the frequency of the automatic adjustment of these times?

    • @IntermaticIncorporated
      @IntermaticIncorporated  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Robin Palmer Yes, if they’ve told the timer where you are and then set a dusk/dawn schedule the timer will auto adjust for you according to the zone you are in. Because the zones are in bands, there is some variation between the actual sunset/sunrise time and the time the ST01 switches, but this is only a matter of a few minutes. Please let us know if you need any additional details on this.

    Why can't I find if it i set to go on or off randomly or on a exact time. Does "RAND" mean random times it will come on at dusk and go off at dusk, or when i set it up, when it says "auto" it will still be random?

    • @IntermaticIncorporated
      @IntermaticIncorporated  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      When programmed, the random setting slightly changes the on/off times set in the timer to give the room a more ‘lived in’ appearance. The offset is within 15 minutes of the scheduled time and will work with the auto setting.

    After I follow instruction all is good- But now I have a time flashing with BATT? What is that ? Does it mean replace battery? If yes how do I replace battery? Thank you

    • @IntermaticIncorporated
      @IntermaticIncorporated  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      • The single lithium CR2 battery operates the ON/OFF function (“click-click”) and maintains time of day and date. The screen flashes “BATT” when the battery is getting low.
      • The battery may be changed without removing AC power.
      • You have about one minute to swap batteries before the switch timer “forgets” the date and time settings. Afterwards, if the display is wrong or flashes “12:00 AM”, reset the time and date. All other settings (your ON/OFF programming) remain in memory indefinitely without battery or AC power.
      • To test the battery, press the ON/OFF button. The timer should “click.”
      If the battery needs replacement here are the steps
      1. Open the access door to reveal the battery tray, located below the ON/OFF keypad.
      2. If there is a pull tab at the battery tray, remove the tab to connect the installed battery. Make sure battery tray is pushed fully into place. Proceed to Step 6.
      3. If the battery was supplied loose, use a flat screwdriver to pry loose the battery tray.
      4. Place the supplied “CR2” battery into the tray, observing + and - markings on tray.
      5. Replace the battery tray into the switch timer.
      Please call Tech Services at 815-675-7000 if you need any additional assistance.

      @IntermaticIncorporated  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Nikkerton The most common cause behind the issue you are describing is that it's hooked up to a motor, contactor or a buzzer. To resolve this, you need to install an ET-NF across the load. Can someone tell me how to clear a previously programmed event? On the DT122K they have a RESUME button to reset an event to clear it out. I see nothing equivalent here. Are we required to reset the whole device? I suppose we can use SKIP, but that is less-than-satisfying.

      Hello DukeLaCrosse20 - Yes, you can use SKIP if you wish to not use a previously programmed time, or completely do a reset. I apologize if this is not as intuitive as you would expect, and I can pass that feedback along. This is how this timer was designed and they have not changed it since its inception. This is too confusing. After I'd programmed the time, etc., I set it to go on at dusk. When I pushed the + to go to 02, it said SKIP. I am trying to set it for on at dusk and off at 10.30, with a random thrown in. The computer is upstairs and the light downstairs and I'm going up and down like a madman, trying to remember and apply each individual step, but I got thrown for a loop when I got the the SKIP. Can't you just do a video for morons like me to do what I'm trying? Your printed instructions are awful, in part because it looks like there are unneeded steps for DUSK ON/FIXED TIME OFF that include going through DAWN, then to a time. I'm all messed up. Please call us at 815-675-7000. We can walk you through this over the phone. The instructions and videos only work when the timer is reset to defaults (hold the on/off button - press and release the reset - after you release the reset you can count to ten then release the on/off).

    Why did this company allow such pathetic amateur videos to be put online? Poor audio and poor use of a microphone. Out of focus and poor quality video!
    If this were my company, I would be ashamed to have such poor videos online. I hope you did not pay those pathetic amateurs any money for doing these awful videos!
