This is why I say Xue Yang is one of the saddest characters in this story. No one understands or knows what he's been through. He's lived a tough life and the only thing he knows is hate and revenge. Deep down, I think he was just lonely and wanted someone to love and care for him. With the reputation he had as a ruthless killer, (like Wei Ying), he thought he would never have that. I understand why he didn't tell Xiao Xingchen who he was when they met again. If he told him who he was, what happened 16 years ago, would have happened again, except this time 1 of them would have ended up dead. That's why he kept his identity a secret while he lived with him.
Kinda disagree. Jin Guangyao also been abused mentally and physically but Jin Guangyao kill people who do that to him as revenge but not like he will really harm people he care about. At the end at least Jin Guangyao rather die than harming Xichen. Xue Yang kill 50 people with 49 of them became of his little finger? It doesn't make sense. Unless the original novelist censored some part of his past or else he's just a cold blooded mass murderer who felt regret only after a person he liked died. Also, his regret also wasn't about what he did, he just regrets that he couldn't see Xingchen anymore. He caused the death of someone dear to him and smugly said it's better that way because then he could manipulate Xingchrn like a ghost puppet.
This is absolutely mind-blowing... The underlying part of XueYang for longing for a warm home echoes my understanding; however, your analysis of the other part is totally beyond my imagination. appreciate it~ :)

And the suggestion is to talk more about Wei Ying’s desperation and longing for Lan Zhan. What I mean by that is that I might be wrong but there were many moments (like the version of the raining scene in the special edition, their parting after meeting in Yiling etc.) when I felt that Wei Wuxian actually wanted to be stopped by Wangji. Well, I'm a cancer and have been hurt. I don't take my pain out on others and keep it pretty much internal ( my belief is it's not other's fault). I do have trouble trusting later in life than before, but always try to be kind and loving in my own way, I have a mothering instinct I guess. Also I still steer away from intimate relationships be it physical or emotional with others that are not family or my children, I'm a loner. So I do understand him somewhat, but can't imagine myself being that way to others.

Xue Yang is definitely the most tragic character in the novel. He also represent the what a social life we hv deal now these days. I pity him that he was only a child but hv to go through a miserable life but I hv no empathy because he use Xiao Chen Cheng and kill Song Lan and Ah Qing. I know that Cancer is a gentle and caring in all the horoscope but when a human face a mentally stress and break down, u really don't expect them to he nice with u. 义城组中似乎阿菁的存在感很低啊~如果在让薛洋与菁跟星多生活几日可能...义城的悲剧就不会发生.....其实阿洋他不讨厌阿菁...他只是很愤怒，为什么阿菁要把真香说出....所以才杀阿菁...但他不把阿菁变成走尸是因为他怕了！他怕如果下辈子真的再也见不到晓星尘，明明在义城的那段日子他们过得如此的开心快乐却因为一句真相变成如此....晓星尘也并不想杀薛洋，他相信薛洋会改，只是因为无法接受自己杀了宋岚而自杀，也因为如此阿菁受到牵连，若她不说是不是从此晓星尘便与他们一起生活？但她不说她又怎能活的快乐？薛洋与阿菁都把对方当成了家人，晓星尘在得知薛洋与他朝夕相处后也选择放下，若薛洋没有说出宋岚一事也许他们真的可以一辈子快乐生活.....那颗星曾是最美好的一颗星....曾照亮一位嗜血少年脆弱的心，也曾温暖过一位无依少女的心，但.....那颗星....终究是殒落了.....而且再也不曾升起......😭😭😭😭
