- Here's a truck anyone can enjoy. Even if you hate automation, just close your eyes and listen! Big thanks to the driver for letting us film. This was as much as we could get before he finished route. Easily my favorite City of LA truck I've filmed, just would have liked to have gotten a lot more video of it.
Little fun fact about this truck and many, if not all the "Volvos" LA has/had until recently. They're actually WhiteGMCs. Yup, made in 1994 and given full restorations in '03 I believe it was. New body, new grille, new paint, the whole nine yards. Thankfully they left the original L10 Cummins in it though, because it sounds fantastic. That growl never gets old! This truck, nicknamed "Train", was retired in late 2012 along with most of the identical units. I think some remain as spares, but I cant say for certain. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

That truck definitely has a grunt to it!
I'm not a huge fan of the Amreps, but I have to say I love this one, it sounds fantastic and is quite gentle on the bins! Hope this truck stays around for a long time, its sad to see the old and reliable trucks be replaced with newer, more complicated and troublesome trucks. It looks like LA takes pride in their fleet as the majority of their other trucks also are relatively nice and clean.
In the future on my garbage truck I'll be that sound

Great catch, this truck is so fast and sounds like a trash truck should sound like.
Awesome, been wanting to see one of these for awhile. I guess it might be up to me to get a super long series of one of these beasts. I hope to go driving around the LAX area looking for one of these on Memorial Day. Haha it's 332 I've filmed 331 before. Whoa, almost made the epic mistake my greens driver made at 2:19.
How easy is the job around there; everything's pulled out onto the road!!! Nothing to complain about up there eh? =] One thing I noticed about this truck (and never before with an Amrep) was the smooth undump and successful lid flip... reckon the driver was just easing back on the hydraulics? A few things with the clip at 2:50, awesome angle, engine sounded mad and there was the reverse beeper out of nowhere at the start?! Sweet footage, not many recycling bins in the area...

@3amrepmike3 Damn the guys at work would love it if residents did that in Warringah (dream on), waaay more efficient and tonnes fast, but that's too logical for my council :P Shame about the recycling, but seems to be the same situation in a lot of apartment areas, same where I am, just a lot of contamination though. Just crazy to see an Amrep which runs so slow and smoothly, never before witnessed =]
