Imagine beeing in distress at Sea, needing help at 1 in the morning... Imagine sleeping at 1 in the morning, your pager rings and you have to get up, run to the liefboathouse and risk your life to help others... so what's the problem with that "damn siren"? Just pray for those men and women who now risk their life for others, so that they may return safely to their beloved ones. Anyway, just turn round and continue sleeping!
I'm always a little perturbed when lifeboats are housed in such a way to severely retard the launch process. Given that it's a tidal port then perhaps a more suitable, purpose built boathouse should have been constructed; the Lizard Point station as an example.
The Lizard Lifeboat station has deep water available for launching via slipway. That isn’t possible in places like St Ives. Each station is designed for the area it serves and is allocated the most suitable boat for the area it serves. This is the best way to launch in tidal areas.
And they've launched in less then 10 minutes so there's no issue because of these well trained men , they all do a brilliant job thankyou for looking after are coastline ,thats a thankyou to the coastguard,RNLI, cliff teams ,and rnli lifeguards on the beachs
Thankyou st ives lifeboat for looking after our coastline
The aim is to launch within 10 minutes of receiving the call. The launch tractor doesn’t need to go 100 mph as it is only needing to go a safe speed
Terrible video. Zoomed out when the launch took place. No idea of the details of the launch and to say 30 year old boat when it’s brand new in 2016

They don’t sound it at night. It is only to clear the area for the lifeboat launch when it is busy
