  • South Wales Police officers and staff put on a fantastic emergency open day at the Western BCU event at the Penlan Leisure Centre in Swansea on Saturday 22nd June 2019.
Over 4000 people passed through the gates to see demonstrations from the three services, Police, Fire, and Ambulance. Also in attendance were the Mountain Rescue Service, the three beautiful Alsatian dogs (K9) with their handlers give an impressive display in their different arena as well.
The Glamorgan Constabulary Police Re-enactment Group brought their Victorian jail which was supported by two Victorian Policemen. This time they had a prisoner played by Andrew MacFetters in the prison who was a big success with the kids for photo shoots. A guest from France was Allen Hill, who was a French Gendarme. Sgt Harris said: "They started queueing at 11 am and we have not stopped since. I reckon about 500 kids and parents have been in that jail."
The mascot race at the end of the day was hilarious. Ten mascots battled it out to be the fastest champion on the 50-meter course.
A big photo shoot at the end of the day with Police officers and volunteers has been the biggest for a Western BCU event.
