FINALLY, a first movement that moves along the way I like. I somehow recall that an old Neville Marriner recording from the '70s did so also. Too many conductors emphasize the "pesante" and not the "energico" of the tempo indication. Or maybe the composer low-balled the metronome marking, which I've seen happen. Anyway, nice performance, so thanks for posting.
If I remember right, Wagner said he stopped giving metronome markings because he was dissatisfied when ensembles followed them. Sometimes you have to actually hear the piece to figure out what the right one is.
This is the most musical performance of Bloch's great work I ever heard! Bloch is a woefully underestimated and under-performed composer.
