Our veterans have given enough. They should be taken care by their loved ones. They should be shown that we appreciate their sacrifice for our freedoms that we enjoy
Nope.but we can send billions to other countries and give homes to illegals..Along with not paying vets from the day they got out.. Congress loves to fuk over Veterans
But they don't...as a service connected disabled veteran it's been a nightmare to get anything done with the VA and it usually doesn't get done... fighting the VA for over 30 years now.. terrible terrible... Don't join the US military people... they will not take care of you and the civilians say thank you for service but don't wanna have anything to do with you... so Semper Fideles not hardly
We just went through the same thing here in Phoenix. The really sad part is they are sending billions to Ukraine, paying off loans students took out for school. Yet, for myself after 7 deployments dating back to Panama, you are now a 3rd rate person. You are used up and they have no need for you any longer. We have to live with it not them.
I was rejected from the program also...we joined the class action lawsuit that was filed against the VA for the caregiver program. Thanks for reporting on this....
U.S. Veterans have physical and invisible scars...they were once our guardians. It's time to take care of them and appreciate their sacrifices they made to our nation while others enjoyed the luxuries and freedoms of America.🇺🇸 🪖⚔🪖🇺🇸
I'm permanent total disabled veteran and rarely leave my home. VA has denied me 2 times now for caregiver program. Told me I can still use bathroom on my own and don't qualify.
That's correct that we have a voice. It will be great for the veterans to stand together. When one veteran suffers we all suffer for each other. Let the veterans and their caregivers stand together.
Here's the problem this video has under 1000 views and 14 comments and its been up 2 weeks. My husband and I are part of the caregivers program and we fear of what will happen if we get kicked off. My husband has many medical issues but rhe worst are PTSD, TBI and he has random seizures. If I have to go back to work how is going to take care of him? If I don't go back to work how am I going to pay the mortgage? More people need to be contacting thier senators fighting for the ones that gave so much to protect us.
@Danny Stranahan there has been alot of push back with the changes to the program. With that being said we've been informed that we can't be removed from the program at this time. The future is unknown. It's stressful not knowing but we are healthy and happy that's all we can ask for.
The people who changed this shouldn't be surprised if they end up beaten. Veterans who serve honorably do not get treated well by the entities thaT they are entitled to use
Most of these spouses had to leave their jobs to care full time of the Disabled Veteran, how they are expected to make ends meet?? Polytrauma, blindness, or completely missing limbs.., are some of the cases. Why politicians first take from Veterans to support their future voters, they bring from around the globe? I still remember when a commander in chief tried to cut Tricare medical Olán for retiree
My mother has been denied caregiver. She is non weight bearing on her foot. My own VA comp and pen exam that said she needed help bathing toileting dressing feeding. The VA literally withheld this exam during the time she applied for caregiver. So may mother has been denied the initial. Caregiver sent up a internal appeal once my mother showed the comp and pen exam. That internal appeal was denied. My mother filed a level was denied that as well. Now we have to file a level 2. If that is denied we have to keep on appealing. This is absolutely crazy. My mother can't do nothing for herself. She is wheelchair bound after they gave my mother a wrong wheelchair. My mother stump was reinjured because she was thrown from this chair. My mother 100% wasn't even entered on her face sheet til after her caregiver was denied. The VA is totally wrong.
My son is 37 and has been my husbands caretaker for 15 yrs and hasent ever gotten a dime to this day nothing so gee i feel for ya my son life has been destoryed
They are focusing on daily life activities seriously what about their mental health those who suffer with severe PTSD , depression etc.. Take care of the veterans they served they deserved .

This benefit was badly abused by veterans and their families using it for extra cash and not for what it was intended for - to off set the expenses for medical care in the home. Essentially "nursing care" not for companionship.
The problem is, if you’re working making $50k a year and your veteran spouse is disabled to the point someone needs to be at home and care for them, you can’t afford to pay someone. Therefore YOU stay home, and the VA gives you a stipend so you can. This is more cost effective than having the vet at a vet hospital full time and it’s better for the vet being at home. The veteran served his time and country, he’s earned the benefits, and if it’s needed then it’s better to have a family member caring for them instead of them being in a facility. $2200-$3000 is not much compared to most peoples working salary, but again, it’s much cheaper for the VA to pay this than maintain vet facilities and staff. Say here in NJ if 1500 vets with caregivers lose their stipend, that’s 1500 vets that may need 24 hour care, and there are not enough facilities, room or staff to do it. So millions for another facility, employees all making $50-$100k a year, security, electric, food, medicine, etc. or, pay the spouse $2200-$3000 and they do and provide everything at home. Just like hospice, it’s better for the person to be home than a nursing home.
Are you kidding me? 100% disabled because of PTSD? Husband getting $2K to $3K per month? Of course it is devastating, living off other people's money - free ride is over.

What happened? Did they fix it
Nope.. When we gonna wake up? The VA could care less about veterans. The organization is more about the government looking good by "assisting" us.

Why should a caregiver who takes care of a veteran be penalized by losing the stiffened stipend
Mine was, yet she still had to leave her full time job to take care of me, that doesn’t change.
A basic income that would help cover rent mortgage food clothing and other necessities would help
Thank you for covering this important issue wavy!
All they care about are their bonuses and not the Veterans care. Screw the dam VA.
I just got denied.😑
After spinal injuries ,migraines, bad knees, and ptsd to name a few. Amazing
Wow I’m sorry… were you working?
The appeal process takes YEARS. That's not a fix, it's an excuse the VA gives for more time.

Reviews for caregiver program is always denied. Appeals can take up to 7 years. VA is trying to get money back to compensate mismanagement of funds.
I was denied for my wife, because I can drive twenty miles to work they did not even look at my TBI or PTSD thats makes ot harder to dive and work.
I just received my second denial yesterday.

To be real, a lot of spouses be bullshittin also. I've met a few, not a lot of people who lied to receive these types of benefits.
The VA is broken. It needs quarterly oversight.
No bonuses and accountability. Needs complete overhaul.
