I am profoundly moved by the synchronicity of finding your channel yesterday and watching this today. This is exactly the inspiration that I needed to hear. I hope that you know, you have a beautiful gift. Your words moved me to tears. Thank you for sharing your Authentic Swing. : )
My mum had this in a pile of dvds from woolworths. I love jack lemmon and saw Grumpy old men, and saw his name on Bagger and it was his last film before he passed away and had to watch it, in tribute to him. What a surprise and one of my favorite all time films.
One of my favorite movies. I have played these scenes over and over on my own appreciating the inspiring, meaningful messages. I have always been attracted to movies of the heart. They have an impact if you're paying attention. As do the "dead/lifeless" movies that give nothing to the soul or blatantly promote egoic choices. I noticed the Bagadvagita reference but I did not tune in to the actual names - clever. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing your light for the collective.
One of the best TH-cam videos I have seen. Thank you and great job. I watched this movie for first time in years and I always look for analysis. I was surprised to see that this was only explanation video and wow was it one. Great timing too.
This movie is legendary, brings more than a tear to my eye every single god damn time I watch and rewatch. On the other hand, your analysis; Legendary too and beautifully narated. Wish I would have stumbled upon your video long ago.
I had seen most of this on my own, but did not know about the original story of the archer. Thank you for this my friend, your analysis made me rethink the whole thing again. Amazing work. 🤘😊❤️
Love your video… This movie has been very inspiring to me and I feel that very few people really understand it’s real meaning… Thanks for bringing it to light, Robert
I first watched this movie in an almost empty theater when i was 10 years old. I knew it was a great movie back then but i didnt yet know why. Now after 24 years of life experience and many sad times, it makes more sense thanks to this youtube video. This message of hope makes me feel better about what is to come. Its funny how God will put into your life some solution or explanation to a problem you might have in the future. The answer was there just waiting for me to be ready to see it. I thank God and you, as well as Bagger Vance. P.S. We need more Analysis videos on your channel. Keep up the good work!
Great job examining one of the few films that ever moved me to a cathartic release of "authentic" tears. I only find it sad that so many people don't get this story and it's wonderful message - not even a little.
Thanks. I agree completely. Watching this was a very powerful experience for me as well. I kind of like it more because it wasn’t a huge smash hit. I feel like it was made for me and now I’m learning of a few others as well.
I'm shocked to discover this made tear up I've always deeply loved this movie and it felt like no one knows about it. I think my surprising reaction to this simply brilliantly well made video struck a chord in the core of my soul and it completely shook me to hear a truth I've wanted to know all along
Nice review. Good to see someone actually understand the story on which this movie is based. I always laughed at the controversy surrounding this movie. How can casting a black man to play God be a case of negative racial stereotyping?
Nice explanation. I just want to clarify one thing. Krishna actually means dark. He is called nila-megha-syama (dark as the rain-bearing cloud). The Sanskrit word "nila" is used both for "dark" and for "blue". That's why this confusion occurs. And Arjuna means shining like silver.
Excellent. The story of the movie "Harvey" from way back is an incredible psychological expose of human nature. You may like to look at it sometime. Thank you.
This is my most favourite movie of all time. Unfortunately I think it's also the least well understood movie (as you pointed out), it's not a golf film. Interestingly the 'seeing the field' moment perfectly describes the feeling of 'being in the zone' as a proffessional in sport. That flow state is so increadibly difficult to explain but this movie somehow manages to capture that feeling so well. Loved the analysis :)
ive only seen clips on this film and that lead me to filming out abt the bhagavad gita. i'd honestly love to watch a movie abt that story with a decent budget to work with, it sounds so good ! do you by any chance know other films inspired by that story? also in another clip, i saw that junahs competition bobbie something seems to have a caddie who is sihk. i wonder if this caddie also symbolizes something. i'm definitely adding this to my watch list.
The escape shot he sees and executes out of the woods is also profound. There is a glimmer of light through the trees that offers rescue. When you are in a dark and hopeless place; look to the light. Once Junah sees it, it’s all he sees. None of the trouble is even apparent. What a powerful metaphor for faith and hope. And the various hidden meanings that so many miss when watching this movie is sort of the way the beauty of our Creator is veiled. You see it only when your heart is ready to seek the truth.
I still get shivers with that scene. I think Carl Jung would have loved the portrayal of synchronicity, where the mention of "it was just yesterday," right after Adele had said the same thing, paved the way for that awakening.
Just like the bat boy Bobby in the Natural, for Hardy it is about the hero returning and that happening in a fulfillment of his faith in others, and for Juna and Roy Hobbs a mellowing by life's cruel lessons- hitting bottom (human darkness) and bouncing back perhaps a wiser and fuller man. Will Smith dope-smacked us as this an unexpected source of the Mentor role. So this is the story of the hero going out, and coming home. Yin, yang. The round trip of the Hero's journey. The shamanic experience has been described by some Jungians as taking intensely ill, and falling into the unconscious then getting a call to return to consciousness, bringing a reward with him- wisdom. Wisdom for some of them it is wisdom in the Greek sense- wisdom in Greek is feminine- Sophia- and the reunion of the feminine and the masculine is peace, is homestead, is completeness, is bringing home the bacon..
Haha! After I watch a movie (at least the good ones) my mind naturally tries to process it and sometimes that leads to some additional reading and research. But mostly my mind just thinks this way. 😅
Man this movie is beautiful. It could be about anyting it just chose golf but this wasnt the point. I really dont like the strange takes from certain media outlets, they always try to put their own bias in everyones hearts.
Had the role of Baggar Vance been accepted by first offered Morgan Freeman and a more seasoned actor than MD, maybe this would have been more successful. BTW I love MD and Smith.
I think it was more that the story comes from a different paradigm, so people just didn't get it and they didn't bother to find out what something different meant.
Please Respond. Why would an incredible golfer, (Bagger Vance) not be a golfer? In 1961, Charles Sifford became the first Black golfer to earn a PGA Tour card. Thus, in this legend, Bagger was excluded from the game he loves because of the color of his skin. Victor Emil Frankl (1905 - 1997), Austrian neurologist, psychiatrist and Holocaust survivor, devoted his life to studying, understanding and promoting “meaning.” All of which came from his moment of despair. Why couldn't Bagger acquire his genius and wisdom from the pain of the outside looking in? How does this insight fit into your interpretational narrative?
Great insights. I always thought of Bagger as a representation of God or an angel sent to help Juno-who in turn brought hope to his community during a difficult time. He wasn’t a golfer because he was a mystical mentor who at the end of the movie reappears without aging when Jack Lemon’s character dies.

Thank you. I am moved by your comments!
This is without a doubt my favorite movie of all time.
Me too
The ending was really emotional. Seeing Hardy die on the golf course, playing the game he loved, and being welcomed to the afterlife by Bagger.
exactly!
You found your authentic swing my friend, outstanding work.
Thank you!
This was really great, I hope this channel blows up certainly deserves it!
Thanks. I hope so too!

This brought me to tears . Needed this in a dark time . . Thank you !!
Glad to help. All the best to you my friend!

Thank you. It is a powerful movie.
The slight change in Will smiths facial expression when junah says he has to call a stroke on himself is masterclass acting
That was outstanding! Always have loved that movie, and knew there was something deeper there than I was getting. Thanks for taking us there.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
That was beautiful. I hadn't heard the back story about the archer but it makes the movie even more special. Thank you
Holy crap. I love this movie and this was beautiful. Great video
Not too many youtube videos move me to tears, but you really crafted something special here.
Thank you, Nicholas. I am honored that you liked it.
Thanks for sharing your perspective, this is exactly what I needed to hear as well as a giving me a whole new level of respect for this movie.
Beautifully eloquent analysis. Pls post more on early 2000’s cult classics like vanilla sky, fight club, and high fidelity
Thank you amar. I will do more from that period.
I agree, one of the best TH-cam videos... now watched probably 20 times. Timeless inspiration for me and the world, if it too would watch.
Thanks Paul! I am flattered by your comment. The movie contains a great message.
I had seen most of this on my own, but did not know about the original story of the archer. Thank you for this my friend, your analysis made me rethink the whole thing again. Amazing work. 🤘😊❤️

As a golfer who has lost his swing for the past 4 months and on the verge of quitting. This movie hits different.
=)
Brilliant xxxx

Beautifully done.
Amazing. Thank you 🙏
5:30 ... 'love this movie .... But I think my "authentic self" got hopelessly lost a long time ago.
It’s easy to do. At least you recognize it.
Brilliant analysis.

Thanks I have a quiz on this test in my theology class tommorow
Good luck! Let me know how it goes.
Excellent. The story of the movie "Harvey" from way back is an incredible psychological expose of human nature. You may like to look at it sometime. Thank you.
Has anyone 'seen' Harvey? =) I remember that film from many years ago. I'll have to check it out again sometime.
@@MeaningontheScreen it's brilliant once you see the meaning. Every character displays every aspect of the human ego and nature.
This is my most favourite movie of all time. Unfortunately I think it's also the least well understood movie (as you pointed out), it's not a golf film. I’m sure there are other movies inspired by it, but I don’t know which ones.
amazing.
Have you read Bhagatvita? maybe a review?
I haven’t read the whole thing. Just parts.
There are many movies of the story, I suspect. But it isn't a long book.
The escape shot he sees and executes out of the woods is also profound. There is a glimmer of light through the trees that offers rescue. When you are in a dark and hopeless place; look to the light. It was just a moment ago
Angels are angels

My favourite movie.... the only movie that can turn me into a blubbering baby......... great video you got my sub 👍
Spike Lee spoke judgmentally when this film was released - woefully complaining about "The magical Negro" in films
Krishna was not blue in that era we don't had black colour to draw black skin so our people started drawing him in blue skin and it became as prectice
Very interesting.
Interesting. Thanks!

This is so weird I never put this together and my best friends name is Arjuna wtf
It's pretty sneaky, but cool once you realize.
Robert Redford!
this didn't age well
Oh, I disagree. It is incredibly meaningful, just as the Baghavadgita has been for more than 2,000 years.
The movie was mediocre ... and ur a little unhinged
🤣Thank you! I love this comment.
