I used active recall in medschool and did well. The best way to use active recall is to create questions from what you’re learning. After finishing a page, try to answer the questions. Highlight everything you failed and re read or make Flashcards for them .
Yes This Is Totally true Because In 12th I do This I read Some Paragraph And After This i asked questions to my self and answers that if i dont recall answer so i read that portion again so i perform very very good in my 12th but in preparation of govt.exams i dont do this so i don't recall anything but now i try this thing again
Sup mate, can I do the active recall writing what I remember about the subject that I've studied? Or I necessarily need to speak or simply think about it?
Hi Vulxor, Writing is better than thinking as it forces you to remember more and deeply. It does take more time and if short on time is often not practical to do. This is a just a 1 minute short video, pls watch the full video on how to learn anything you want for a deeper understanding of this topic. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Pls watch this - there is a lot more to remembering what you learn. You're not Stupid. HOW TO LEARN ANYTHING FAST! th-cam.com/video/ZZcWAm8PJy8/w-d-xo.html
Hey, should I go over my notes again and write everything I've learned without looking till I'm able to write all I've learned if, using this strategy, I were to miss some information?
Yes. You’re always going to miss some information but that’s the point of it. This is an exercise to get to know what you are finding hard to remember! The larger video on this topic is on the channel, feel free to review.
I wonder where does note taking fit into this. With our vast syllabus I find textbooks much difficult to understand and I usually study directly from videos which are concise and to the point. The I make notes and then memorise (active recall) the entire process is very time consuming. Can you suggest a more efficient way
I used to mark up my text books for things that I would constantly forget so that I could refer to those sections very quickly. Also using active recall with another study buddy will help you remember things better.
Sir please please guide Suppose during frst reading of the content i use mind maps or doodle the information on paper to understand the topic later when i revise i visit to those doodled material But some people suggest that dont make notes instead write Questions but sir i guess its imp to make notes frm various sources first form YT videos books notes then after that AR wil be helpful Correct me of i m wrong that making not s is easy or note because handwritren notes is asvisable because we understand our writing writing instead read material

Is making on notes is affective. In Sri Lanka we get notes when teacher is teaching us teacher gives us notes so should I make notes again I think it is a time wasting. Please help me
I would highlight the notes that your teacher has provided and mark them according to your style. If there are additional things you can take handwritten notes on the notes that the teacher provided you. This approach has worked well for me. Hope this helps. What you watched is a one minute snippet. More details are in the longer video on the channel.
💀 ive been doing this all my life and now i just learned its an actual thing
Indeed. It is actually the most effective way to study and remember.
Same, I'm actually surprised myself.

Is practicing tests a form of active recall?
Absolutely! There is research published that shows that students who do practice tests perform better than students who don’t.
