She is a narcissist that spent too much time denying her heritage until she needed her blackness to use against the Royal Family. Look back at the early photos and you will not see freckles or bad skin. On Suits she was dressed nicely in clothes that flattered her figure. Somehow she missed the lessons on clothes!

I have been mixed race for 52 years, I have ALWAYS been proud of who I am. Family on both sides are free Pasadena CA, Harry's wife can STOP anytime. The ONLY negative connotation to the word "Diva" that I ever heard is when someone was ACTING like a Diva but had NOT earned that esteem title. The fact that she talks to someone who is a conqueror - someone SO accomplished - and keeps trying to twist her into a victim is perverse and revolting to witness. We've enjoyed our time with you and the humorous clarity you shine on her craziness! P.S. You look marvelous today!

Exactly. It means a goddess and originally was used for instance for opera stars, as the highest compliment. So Maria Callas was called a diva in a very non-ironic sense, because everybody agreed that she was divine. In that sense Maria Carey is a true diva as well. On the other hand if someone who doesn't have divine talent, accomplishments and fame, gets called a diva, it only means that they act like one, without earning the title. And then it does have negative connotations. But it really hasn't changed through the years. Someone like Meghan would be called a diva as an insult both then and now.

  • @RhiannaCH
    @RhiannaCH ปีที่แล้ว +875

Mariah’s mom was also a professional opera singer. Mariah was trained and polished since childhood then threw in her own style but kept her class and the ability to laugh at herself. I think the fact that Mariah Carey can laugh at herself makes her diva moments a positive diva not the negative diva

Wasnt 'M's idea for the cartoon 'Pearl' a story about a little girl who meets up with great women in history? Archetypes seems to follow the same thread, where 'M' meets with great women, purporting to want to showcase the greatness of these women but in reality using them to tell her own fake story, and sell the idea that her own 'greatness' was inspired by these ladies. Hence why her guests are minor characters in her podcasts. Archtypes is not about other women, it's true purpose is to celebrate 'M' and her socalled 'greatness'.

I thought she was (and is) stunningly beautiful and her music and voice are incredible. Mariah and Meghan have little to nothing in common. Mariah is a diva (going by the official definition) - a celebrated female opera singer/a famous female singer of popular music. She doesn't take herself as seriously as Meghan. Dr John Kani, the only South African gentleman in the cast of "The Lion King" film and who played Rafiki, has reported that he never met the Markles àt the UK premier of the film, as he wasn't present.
Interestingly enough-for Meghan's take on the film crew- there was only one other South African person in the production and he was a composer- not a cast member. Most of the rest of the major cast members were American actors like Beyonce- (Nala), and Donald Glover, (i can't remember the other names.). I don't know if- looking back- she let her imagination and recollections wander to where the cast was filled with authentic performers from the African continent, their faces all filled with "light" (reflected from her own radiant face)- speechless and overcome at meeting the long awaited, female version of their Saviour Madeba.
That's definitely not what would have happened, said Dr Kani. No one remembers where they were when h and m got married.
Certainly- absolutely- no one took to the streets shouting and praising her name.
Dr Kani considered that a huge insult, especially since Nelson Mandela had been a friend of his, ironically.

Instead I thought for a fleeting moment that Mariah ripped through the shroud that Megham lives in and actually may have gotten her to see her true self for a change. No...not a chance.

What they don't know is, she has no sense of humor and is perpetually offended. Like she STEWS on the slightest insult for YEARS and remembers it until she can take revenge. Sort of like how stalkers fixate on an offhand comment someone makes and forgets 5 minutes later. The stalker then dedicates their entire life to that comment, creating scenarios, revenge fantasies, or relationship fantasies. Then 3 years later, shows up at the home of the comment maker, ready to play out their fantasy. When their target doesn't know who they are or what they're talking about, they become enraged.
Meghan Markle is Kathy Bates in Misery. Except in real life. 😬

I would hazard a guess that most people during their formative , adolescent days have felt totally isolated and ''different'' . Being made to feel too smart, a nerd or too slow , too thin, too fat, too well dressed , too badly dressed, too blonde, too spoilt, too dark , being told constantly that you are a snob, too ''up yourself'' and many , many insults . It is in many of us to be self conscious , unable to fathom how to speak to anyone in a room full of strangers to the point of feeling ill. It is nothing new.
So MM very quickly took umbrage at MC's Diva comment ! Now we see some of what was happening when in company with the Royal Family . Taking very quick slights as personal , hurtful insults. The thing is that Markle could have counted her blessings as someone who had similarities to two different races. Which is something that I think Mariah had to learn herself, you can tell Carey has developed a healthy self confidence to embrace her heritage and used it to her advantage as a performer. The one thing I appreciate about Carey is that she doesn’t play into these games a lot of women fools try by pinning one race against the other as if it was a trend. She respects everyone the same, her audience is for anyone. There is no favoritism or dropping insults to stoke the race fire, she collaborated with everyone professionally and never gave any hint that she is disparaged because of racial tensions. Keep in mind Carey has been in the performance since the 90’s, doubt she would have launched well by doing the same stunts Markle and a lot of victim hood groups try these days.

It’s also suggested why this episode was so heavily edited and cut short was Markle got into a tiffy being called a diva and barely had any interaction with Mariah. Markle branded her black in her mind (using narcissist term not race) and was not carrying any profession to have a dialogue with Carey. Either way, I applaud Mariah, always knew she was a diva but she is self made no matter what criticism she has. She has the talent and skills to earn attention, her voiceless range is unique in the music industry. Markle is on the other end of the spectrum, no where near Carey’s league and both women know it.

As you've said Diva River NutMeg's podcasts are a gift! No interviewer has ever slammed a guest post interview on-air the way NutMeg did!! A playful dig sent Nutmeg into victim trauma mode instantly! She had to immediately control the narrative she found so damaging. The world will see there is no "other side" to the story of NutMeg and HazBeen vs the Royal family. The Queen is wise to not fight back and just let them destroy themselves.

River, Bravo!!! I love your videos, especially the last two you have done. You are so informative and entertaining. I am writing down some of your terminolgy, such as "backwoods barbies" as they are so spot on and hilarious 😂. I wait to see when the notification button is on for your channel so that I am able to spend time with you and enjoy your refreshing and honest point of view. You have helped me understand that the main reason things did not work out in this situation is because the Monarchy is ALL about continuity, however a certain new member seems to live in the moment, changing views, plans, opinions and expectations by the day...maybe even by the minute. How could this have ever worked given this fundamental difference in these perspectives?. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for all you do and being so genuine with all of us. So refreshing when we live in times where there are so many rules and expectations for who we "should be" and how we "should act". Again, Bravo!! With much admiration. From Canada 🇨🇦

Ok - up front I’ll admit I’m mixed race myself - my 4 grandparents are of German, South Pacific Island, Korean and West Indian descent.
I’m asking this genuinely - can anyone please enlighten me on what it means to be treated as a “mixed race” woman, or be treated as a “black” woman…. and then one assumes a “white” woman or an “Asian” woman? Really? I hadn’t realised there were protocols in place for how people should be “treated” and who is doing all this “treating”.
