Honestly, the latest 2020s era is THE BEST and they ve really raised the game (apart from the music which is a let down and no where near as good as this.) Give it go...highly recommended!
It was one of the nicer soap operas if you were from Ireland or the Uk because it was a little piece of sunshine and it took you away for a while from real life and our Anglo Saxon melancholy weather and the storylines could be engaging and people seemed to care about each other in the show for a while…

That’s because the show was made on the basis of a family that foster moving into a town to get away from the pressures of city living. The show focused on the foster system and the lives of the main town folk they interact with. Now it’s all “hot boys” and “sex, drugs and drama”. Gone are the days of the foster system and simple stories that have twists.

@Honest Reviewer For me 1988 - 1996 was Home and Away at its best with the Fletcher/Ross era, couples such as Bobby & Frank, Shane & Angel, comedy characters Lance & Martin, Celia, Marilyn. Irene's early days, Alisa & Alf in the old diner. 1996 - 2000, it was pretty good although Pippa leaving the bay didnt feel right. I guess producers couldn't recast the character of Pippa for a third time after the departure of Vanessa Dowling in 1990 and Debra Lawrence in 1998. 2000 - 2003 started to decline in my opinion, the annoying characters took over Nick, Seb, those 'twins', Brodie, Dani, her parents aka the new Pippa & Tom - the list goes on. After 2003, I just watch the occasional episodes as I got sick of the daft storylines and some of the pretentious characters. Today's H&A is more of a crime series, its nothing at all like it was intended to be which was a character driven drama with some issue led storylines. All soap operas have been destroyed over the past 15 to 20 years from sensational storylines and unrealistic characters.
