I have been enjoying all of your marble videos. Most times I watch them several times. Is there a certain size of frit to use on the inside of the marble? What size frit do you use?

First, thank you so much for helping support the channel and these videos. Great question! Almost all of the frit I have is from NorthStar and labeled as "small" size which they call 38 mesh on the website. They sell smaller and larger size so I guess this would be a "regular" size. It seems to work for my purposes. In practice I find a new jar seems coarse and at the tail end it can seem dusty.

When your taking the smaller stick close to the torche, are you blowing the glass on? And if so when you dip it in coloring and you do that does it spread that coloring on? I've never blown glass but what you create gives me great inspiration to start, love the work.

I think what you are referring to is the fuming process. A very small bit of either gold or silver is at the end of the "smaller stick" and is held very close to the torch where the metal is vaporized. The target glass is held in the flame away from the torch and the metals are deposited onto the glass being worked. Most typically the fumed metal layer is then trapped in the glass with the addition of clear glass on top. These layers of metal can produce a range of transmitted and reflected color.
