Thats not entirely true. We’re building our third Silverado right now. If you take into consideration the weight of what’s going on, it doesn’t matter if you do it before or after. Lift, tyres and suspension is part 1 of the build 👍🏼
@AussieDestinationsUnknown you're both correct. But we all know how plans change, IE : you may decide on a heavier boat and/or motor, and/or fridge(s) etc etc. You can make an initial guess sure, but you risk under gunning it, or overcooking it and suffering an unnecessarily harsher ride. Much better to wait to get a closer fit IMHO. I have a GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali, same running gear as the Chevies but with the factory offroad suspension pack upgrade, and I don't understand why a vehicle that is designed for heavy hauling way beyond what we are allowed here in the nanny country should even need such expensive suspension upgrades.
Congratulations guys good to see you saw the light and bought an American Ute,they are just amazing built for the job. We have had 6 land cruisers and switched 7 years ago for a Ram 2500 best vehicle we ever owned. Enjoy Wayne and Loretta
Congrats. Welcome to the club. We tow our zone with a 2500hd and love it. Always feel safe and relaxed. Good decision but watch how much gvm you have on a nb1 licence.
So glad you got this tow rig. We are looking at the same so we will be following you to see what we need to do. Glad to see a down to earth couple doing this.... unlike the other lot
I still believe that towing a lighter van that can use a more common in Aus vehicle, that costs half the price of these in up front costs makes more sense to me. But you have been around and you want to tow one of the heaviest vans out there, hope you are very happy and all works well for you.
Thanks so much, yes absolutely doable with smaller van and less costly set-up. We often chat about the different set ups we have had and loved them all. As long as you are travelling amd out there experiencing this awesome country, then doesn't really matter the set up.
Weight for every van tower is an issue if you go over 20ft and have 3500 limit. Living in a shoe box 19ft van is just such a bad idea when constantly lapping aus. Also having to use scales for every item added to a van gets tired, I am there with a family van. It totally sucks, this way headroom to spare exists. Go over the limit, no insurance and jail if someone dies in an accident. Or buy a US 2500 plus truck and the problem disappears.
Like you to try Billy Goats Bluff track in the Chev like you did with the Cruiser. The Chev will definitely have less 4wd ability. Maybe more sealed roads in the future? That’s ok too.
@@ntknow argh - such a common misconception- these trucks are INSANE off road! Sure you don’t fit down super tight tracks but they do a damn good job of doing what they’re designed to do. We’ve been touring full time for 4 years and spend most of our time off road 🤷🏼♀️
Awsum new tow rig. Fully understand why you need to be able to carry more weight. Having a tow rig that has plenty of pulling power makes travelling so much easier & stress reducing. Cheers
Wow! Congratulations on your new ride. Talk about travelling in stye and comfort. Enjoy it. It won’t take long to get used to all the tech. Looking forward to your trip through the High Country. Those heated seats will be a bonus and your heater in the van will get a workout for sure. Enjoy your week.
Congratulations my friends, a really great choice . This vehicle will see you through many years of exploring and with lots of good wishes- many many fantastic memories. Stay safe, drive free.
Wow guys well done just remember if you 2 are happy that's all that matters if 1 thing I don't like BLACK is such a hard colour to look after good luck with that enjoy
Congratulations, you both look stoked, like 2 kids in a candy store. Great car. Just have fun, enjoy yourselves and can not wait to see the new adventures and memories you make in the Chevy 👍
Freaking love it. You’ll be the envy of all on the road. You won’t know yourselves comfort wise. Very envious guys. If I was living on the road I’d buy one without hesitation. Enjoy
Congratulations Sue, Derrick & Bobby 🙌 I was right, picked it. We are on the fence. Have a 300 Cruiser and we absolutely love our car but that extra $35K ahhhhh…. We shall see. You look so happy 😁!! Ohh forgot to ask, how do you feel about parts when travelling, that’s what worries me. Toyota is everywhere & also you need to 23l of ad blue into approx 3000km.
Congrats guys, you can’t deny the level of comfort there! Hope she’s kind to you on your adventures & can’t wait to see where you go and the upcoming mods👏
Good choice guys. Many people go for the 1500 versions of the big 4 and end up regretting it. Yes, the 1500s do have a good towing capacity, but they suffer with restricted payloads once medìum to heavy vans are hooked up.
Adding a GenY articulated hitch or an Airsafe Hitch (we use that one) will stop the porpoising altogether… not being rigid, airbag ride is less stress on your caravan A-Frame….welcome to the club
I hope you read the owners Facebook reviews of these, terrible warranty, service & parts. Then terrible resale to add to it. Anyway good luck guys and please provide honest reviews on all of it, don’t pick and choose like some. purpose built to tow, can’t even handle 320 on the ball
This has been taken into consideration and I'm sure its not the only make of vehicle on Facebook etc that have problems. I'm not sure what you mean about "can't handle 320 on the ball"
Enjoy your new tow rig. Sue you'll be in Heaven after the TOJO seats. Looking forward to the awesome places you will take us with the new combo. Love your content it's never worried us what the tow rig or van is/was. Keep living the good life.
Congratulations, how exciting for you both. Well done guys. I've been dreaming of getting a van, and it's finally happening (Jayco Swift Outback), just need to confirm delivery.... so I totally understand how excited you both are.... Congratulations again..
A suspension hitch of some sort is the best thing you’ll do to stop that feeling when towing. We use an ozglide on our caravan with our 2500 and it absolutely changed the feel of the van.
I had a smile on my face when you finally revealed the Chevy, genuinely pleased for you both, we have recently bought a new caravan and new 4WD so I know how you guys must feel, adding all the must haves will be difficult.
Great to see your new toy. These are designed for the exact usage. The fuel economy is great for size and towing weight compared to most on market. Town use, forget it. Touring in lounge chair. Slowly select your mods, be mindful of weight your adding. See if you can right a list of full mods work weights out and then start.
Congrats guys. Love it. I thought you’d get a yank tank. They are the only vehicle around capable of handling the weight requirements. Enjoy ….. and I look forward to your adventures ahead.
Awsome it's the only thing left that can tow a decent caravan and fitted out canopy. Great job now let's watch the build ❤ the comfortable ride cool and smooth.
Good choice for towing large vans. I agree with you sun roof is a waste of money, they add unnecessary top weight plus future rattles and water leaks, but that's the way they are produced.
Congratulations to you both on your new tow rig, I must admit that if funds allowed we would possibly go down a similar path. I don’t understand why people are chopping and extending the Land Cruisers for something they’re not designed for. Looking forward to your next adventures.
my dream tow rig, and the perfect colour!!! but i did have a chuckle as Sue said she drove the Chevy, as my brain started singing the lyrics, "i drove the chevy to the levy but the levy was dry..." 🤣
Love love your new Chevy Ute 🛻👏🦘👏🦘👏 you both deserve it 👏👏👏👏 congratulations .You are going to have meany Adventures with this truck It’s so nice to see the excitement on your faces.🌈🏖️⛺️🍷🍷
Honestly you guys definitely made the right choice For the price of the chev compared to anything else on the market that’s fit for purpose I totally understand
Congratulations on your new rig!! Look forward to seeing what it’s capable of 😉 We’ve also had a 76 series, 79 series, 200 series and now a RAM 2500. We’re talking chalk and cheese with the 200 series and RAM 2500 towing the same van, wouldn’t know it’s behind now and the comfort is next level too. Sue I find the RAM not hard to park at all, I’m sure you’ll be fine if you build up confidence to just do it.
You both look like all your Christmas’ have come at once. So pleased for you both. It looks like we’re going that way from a PX3 xlt. Awesome. Looks good with the zone too. Travel safe.
We've often invited you guys into our living room now we're building an extension, when we watch your weekly eposides we have some where you can park your beast.
Awesome guys! Makes perfect sense to buy a vehicle that fits your needs from the showroom floor rather than modifying an unsuitable vehicle to meet the requirements. Safe travels.
Hi Guys, smart decision, most people don’t get what you need to tow larger vans & payloads. I have a Ram & it’s great, planning to buy a Zone soon. The space comfort & power these American trucks provide is next level which you will know by now. Enjoy & safe travels.@
Congratulations on the new rig I already commented last episode I new this is what u would get cause it just makes sense my brother and I already went thru all options never looked back great to drive and especially tow
Great video. I trust this can put people on the right track regarding that your conventional SUV cannot deal with real hauling, in turn, in comfort and power to boot.
Great to see well deserving, down to earth people like yourselves, who put in the hard yards each week to bring us your videos. Well done and enjoy! 👍
looks good Derrick and Sue. don't do suspension until you do your bar and canopy otherwise you will need to do it again.
Sensible advice

What does nb 1 licence mean and nb2 ?

good choice. I've got a 2013 GMC. went from 20" wheels down to 18" and fitted a Gen/y hitch. Definitely fixed a lot of the "porpoising" problems....
