Australian Winter Gardening: Planting Potatoes in Containers, Balcony Garden Tour.

Join me for another cozy day in the balcony garden. We first explore my favourite gardening store to pick up some seed potatoes to plant in pots and containers. We will go through the best soil conditions for potatoes, some good manure and fertilizer tips, along with the best way to plant potatoes for the biggest yield. One of my favourite methods is the ‘Mound Up’ Method in the garden so we will discuss that technique for growing potatoes and by the end, if you’re a beginner gardener you’ll feel super confident to grow your own potatoes at home.Urban gardening made simple!
From there, we will sow some coriander seeds and poppy seeds. I discuss how I can’t wait to start sowing seeds in Spring for a Summer garden. I’m pretty impatient as a gardener, so any chance for me to start dreaming of a Summer gardening season, I’ll do it. Especially when it’s been gloomy here in Melbourne.
From there, we will do a quick tidy up and clean up of the balcony garden before storing away dahlia tubers. I'll take you through all of the vegetables and flowers I'm growing in the urban garden, in Winter. Make sure to watch to the end to listen to the sound of rain falling on the garden - So dreamy and cozy.

Thank you so much for watching ☺️ the length of time can differ depending on how deep the potatoes were planted, temperature etc but it can take around 4-6 weeks from memory - I’ll document it here on my channel as I go to show how long it took me and how much growth I get before I add my first layer. Are you growing potatoes too right now?
